Job Title: Specialist - Quality Assurance

Department: Quality Assurance

Business Unit: Purchasing

Reports To: Quality Assurance Senior Manager

Supervisory Role: No

FLSA Status: Exempt



Job Summary

 

The Quality Assurance Specialist supports the QA process and workflow functions to achieve department goals by successfully achieving tasks as directed, including timely and proactive handling of reports, cases, and tests that assure quality and safety of products.



Essential Functions

 

  • Conduct report analysis to determine case status
  • Recognize criteria for escalation
  • Coordinate scheduling with external service providers, stakeholders, business partners, and customers
  • Conduct data entry and data management
  • Execute QA process tasks
  • Communicate with external service providers, stakeholders, business partners, and customers
  • Communicate internally with other departments
  • Perform research and investigate to support QA tasks
  • Complete and review reports, cases, and tests, communicating results clearly to the relevant internal and external parties
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Required

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of food science, physics, chemistry, or biology; consumer products regulations, production/manufacturing processes, and quality assurance practices; or other relevant areas of the retail industry

 

 

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or Food Science is required
  • 1 – 2 years of experience

 

 

Physical Job Requirements

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary (standing and/or seated) position more than half the time
  • The person in this position may need to move about the store(s), distribution center(s), warehouse(s), and/or corporate office(s) less than half the time
  • The person in this position must be able to maneuver (lift, move, carry, slide, etc.) 15 – 40 lbs.
  • This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing, etc.) all of the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors
  • This position is exposed to hazard/chemical materials less than half the time
  • The person in this position must be able to identify and distinguish between colors less than half the time

 

 

Travel Requirements

  • This position commutes between regional offices/distribution centers less than 25% of the time within a day
  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train

Preferred

 

Preferred Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • PCQI Certification preferred
  • HACCP Manager Certification preferred
