Our goal is to ensure we provide the best quality products to our customers while working in fast paced environment. We have an opening for a Food Safety Coordinator

 

Our Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for the overall compliance with food safety and general safety practices of the whole company. The food Safety Coordinator works with all Department as a team to monitor and evaluate the workplace to ensure compliance with food safety standards. A vast majority of the Food Safety Coordinator’s time will be spent on the floor and cooler warehouse operations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with outside suppliers to comply with our Approved Supplier Program.
  • Assist with managing HACCP and SSOP validations and verifications.
  • Assist with coordination of 3rd Party Audits and Regulatory Inspections.
  • Assist with managing company’s Pest Control Program.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all quality programs Maintaining Product Specification Sheets for processed items
  • Effectively handles and stores necessary compliance food safety paperwork.
  • Interacts with the Operations and Production departments to ensure practices comply with food safety standards.
  • Conducts new hire and annual training to ensure training is conducted and is effectively communicated of all food safety policies to company employees.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations
  • Collects environmental, water, air and product samples.
  • Conducts GMP audits and develops/implements corrective action plans.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of food safety polices SOPs and SSOPs.
  • Assuring compliance to in-house specifications and standards to include HACCP, SQF Standards, Organic Standards, Food Safety Guidelines and GMP’s
  • Follows company policies and practices while representing company in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Work with management, sales and customers as needed to understand and reduce product returns and complaints and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Other duties assigned by the QA Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in food or agricultural sciences or minimum 2-4 years’ experience in food industry
  • Must be able to work flexible hours with at least 40 hours a week minimum and some evenings, weekends, and holiday’s as business requires. Rotating schedules at times.
  • Spanish Bi-lingual a plus
  • Knowledge of agricultural and cold warehousing operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of HACCP is a plus
  • SQF Practitioner is a plus
  • Ability to make a sound judgement when identifying safety and health hazards.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems independently.
  • Understanding and ability to effectively communicate Food Safety and Quality Standards
  • Computer literate knowledge and proficiency of MS Office.
  • Establish and maintain effective channels of communication with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work in heat or cold and wet environments.
  • Detail oriented and analytical skills
  • Capable to read, write, and understand policies and guidelines, specifications and safety standards
  • Effective record keeping
