Culinary R&D Food Technician - Kent, WA

Position Summary: The R&D Commercialization Technician is responsible for assisting in the development of new products, as well as improving existing products in support of business and customer objectives. This culinary role will be responsible for understanding the needs of the business development team and the R&D Chef and deliver on discovering new culinary areas of opportunity. This position will work cross-functionally with all disciplines including sales, management, production, and quality assurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Operations, Quality and Procurement Teams in development and testing of new products
  • Create, update, and manage recipe cards for production
  • Create, update, and manage Gold Standards for production
  • Conduct sensory testing on new products
  • Schedule micro testing on new products
  • Manage the micro testing results
  • Weekly product evaluations
  • Participate in new product launches
  • Help with labor & yield studies
  • Assist in test kitchen on new items
  • Assist sales team in receiving samples and product feedback

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree or have experience in Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Science or related field
  • Must have 2 years minimum in culinary arts or food science
  • Qualified candidates will possess excellent self-management and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be willing and able to safely consume Peanut, Tree Nut & Dairy products
  • Potential candidates should enjoy and be open to testing and tasting a variety of products that contain (nuts, dairy, soy, egg, etc.)

Experience in Excel & PowerPoint

Licensing and Certification: N/A

Tools and Equipment Used: Full R&D Kitchen Computer, MS Office products, proprietary software and other basic office, production, warehouse, and quality equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme cold (non-weather)
  • Occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • The noise level in the work environment is not normally loud

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.50 /hour
