We are hiring a Product Development Manager to manage the development projects leading to innovation or productivity for the brands Merkt’s, Kaukauna, Price’s and Owl’s Nest brands.


The essential duties and responsibilities for this role are:

  1. Representative of Innovation and industrial excellence at the plant: Is the primary technical resource at the plant for the development and implementation of cold pack brands changes in process or recipe, and the creation of new formulas; and is accountable for the validation of the performance level (OEE, waste, cost) in the decision process (go/no go gates)
  2. Trials preparation and follow up: Is accountable for the reliability of the results and the conclusion / recommendation of the trials. Processes data and carries out trial reports. Shares conclusion and recommendation with technical projects leaders or project teams.
  3. Continuous improvement: Works closely with all the supervisors on the daily production concerns. Oversees and makes adjustments to the daily cheese making processes when necessary. Proactively pursues any necessary improvement projects identified.
  4. Communication and leadership:  Is a key person in the implementation of projects (innovation, renovation, industrial excellence), change management and training of operators. Leads and conducts meetings to rally the employees behind common goals. Manages his/her projects on time and in full

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the dairy industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with continuous improvement tools and lean methods including Reliability Excellence is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication (verbal, listening, and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office software required, particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours and shifts, based on projects and production demands, including ability to travel to various locations.

  • Requires an individual to be self-motivated, work without immediate supervision and must be willing to be hands on.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communications skills.
