Conduct food safety inspections and audits for clients, such as restaurants, retailers, etc. Develop effective work plans for the completion of assigned inspections/audits within a determined timeframe. Establish and maintain effective communication with headquarter-based project managers, as it relates to assigned clients. Evaluate a range of different food-safety related items at a client-site, such as food, storage procedures and equipment being used to ensure compliance with standards set by NSF for safety. The performance of such an evaluation may include: checking raw ingredients for maturity or stability; evaluating finished products for safety, quality and nutritional value; inspecting food processing areas to ensure sanitation, safety, quality and waste management standards; evaluating food processing and storage procedures; and, studying the structure and composition of food and the changes it undergoes in storage and processing. Remain educated on changes or additions to the standards and processes laid out by NSF for food safety compliance. Collect food, product or environmental samples from client-site management or appropriate client personnel. Summarize and evaluate inspection/audit findings. Report findings to client managers and employees. Recommend corrective actions, as needed. Educate clients on expectations to gain or maintain NSF compliance moving forward. Prepare reports to NSF management of results of findings and education measures taken with clients.
Education: Bachelor – Food Science, Agriculture and Life Sciences, or in a related field of study.
Experience: Three (3) years in the job offered, as a Food Auditor, or in a related food safety and quality auditing/compliance role;
Experience must include:
1.Food safety and quality based auditing programs.2.Food safety supplier quality assurance programs.3.Training for ANSI-accredited scheme (i.e. HACCP).4.Utilizing HACCP concepts in a food safety environment.
