SCOPE OF POSITION:
As part of the R&D team, the Associate Food Scientist will execute strategic product development programs from concept development through commercialization. This individual will interact with R&D, Packaging, Manufacturing and Marketing throughout their projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct food product formulation and lab testing using recognized procedures
  • Interpret results and develop an understanding of how to translate to possible solutions
  • Conduct trials at pilot plant and production facilities
  • Write technical reports and maintain accurate and complete technical records
  • Learn and utilize the online specification system
  • Complete all commercialization activities scaling up prototypes to deliver consistent products at the factory
  • Work in collaboration with cross functional team members
  • Develop process parameters ensuring plant capability

 

CAPABILITIES:

  • Basic technical/analytical/culinary skills
  • Ability to interact with others in manufacturing, lab, and office environment
  • Good time management and multitasking skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of food recipes
  • Computer skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledgeable in natural and clean label ingredient selection, formulation, processing equipment, and operating conditions
  • Basic technical and theoretical knowledge of food science and manufacturing processes
  • Experience working with chefs and in culinary settings and proven record of taking culinary concepts to formulating into commercialization level

EXPERIENCE:

  • 0-2 years of Food Product Development experience
  • Experience in frozen meals, and/or culinary training

EDUCATION:
BS/MS Food Science or related field

 

TRAVEL:
Travel 25-40%
