A leading importer of
international food is looking for an experienced Food Safety professional
to join our team
manufacturers and food processors in areas such as FSMA, FSVP, SQF, HACCP,
FDA regulatory compliance, CGMP, plant operations, processing technologies,
workforce training, quality assurance and product development, to develop
and maintain an FSVP program for all imported foods and to include the
- Documenting known or
reasonably foreseeable, Biological, Chemical and Physical hazards for
- Evaluating known or
reasonably foreseeable hazards and controls required
- Evaluating the risk posed by
a food, based on the hazard analysis, and the foreign supplier’s
- Conducting supplier
- Conducting corrective actions
- Establishing written
procedures to insure that foods are imported only from foreign
suppliers approved based on above hazard analysis and verification.
- On-going re certification
- Responsibility for labelling
and monitoring legislative changes.
- Responsibility for
preparation and maintenance of product specs
Other as assigned
- At least 3 years of
experience in the food industry, ideally with a food manufacturer
- At least 3 years college with
some science course work completed. BS/BA in biology, food science,
chemistry etc. highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cGMPs, HACCP, HARPC, FSMA, FSVP
- Experienced in packaging
review processes under the FDA guideline for nutritional panels.
- Experience with Standards of
Procedure (development, implementation and education).
- Certifications and/or
experience in one or more Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) schemes
e.g., Safe Quality Food (SQF) program, International Featured Standards
(IFS), Food Safety System Certification (FSSC), BRC, ISO etc is highly desirable.
- Training in FDA’s Preventive
- Excellent communication
skills, both oral and written
