Job Scope and Accountabilities:

The Retail Auditor will be responsible for:

  • The delivery of high quality, timely audit services in the store audit sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and arrange store audits in accordance with client and SAI Global procedures and guidelines, including establishing audit schedules in advance in consultation with Store Auditing team members and the client expectations.
  • Prepare for audit using SAI Global audit planning guidance. Arrange all travel plans.
  • Conduct audits, determining compliance of client’s location(s) to audit criteria by interviewing customer staff at all levels, completing checklist, and drawing conclusions on compliance, and documenting findings.
  • Present findings to location personnel as warranted by client protocol and prepare audit report. Advises client of after action information applicable to specific client.
  • Present progress reports to management periodically.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

Degree Track:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in environmental health from a degree program accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council.
  • a Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years experience in food protection; OR
  • a Bachelor’s degree and possession of the NEHA REHS/RS credential

Experience Track:

  • an Associate’s degree and four (4) years of progressive experience in food-related work, and successful passage of the Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM), Food Safety Managers Certification Examination (FSMCE), SuperSafe Mark Exam, or ServSafe exam; OR
  • a High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressive experience in food-related work, and successful passage of the Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM), Food Safety Managers Certification Examination (FSMCE), SuperSafe Mark Exam, or ServSafe exam

“In-Training” Status:

  • If you are applying under condition 1 of the eligibility requirements, but do not yet have the required work experience, you may apply for an “In-Training” Status registration. You will have three (3) years to acquire the necessary experience to transfer your registration to full-credential status. If you do not acquire the necessary experience in three years, your “In-Training” status will expire. In order to obtain the credential you will need to once again apply and be found eligible to take the exam.
  • Must pass background check
  • Must obtain CP-FS or equivalent within 4 months of hire/contracting
  • Must have valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
  • Must be available to travel on weekends and overnight as warranted

Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • College diploma, university degree or equivalent – see Experience section.
  • Computer proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Working knowledge of various store auditing processes and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of FDA Food Code.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required;
  • Team Player
  • Ability to ask questions and present findings under sometimes difficult situations
  • Strong organizational skills and motivation for excellence.
