Food Safety Manager -
Yakima, WA 98903
Schedule: Full time. 8am-5pm, M-F. Schedule may
fluctuate based on production.
The Food Safety Manager is responsible
for the development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the
company’s SQF Food Safety and Food Quality Program, Preventive Controls,
Produce Safety for the Packing Facility. The Food Safety Manager participates
in, and may lead, cross-functional problem-solving efforts. Candidate must be
self-motivated, able to multi-task, and a conscientious team player with
excellent communication and computer skills.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Oversee monitoring, verification,
and validation activities to ensure all product leaving the facility
meets food safety and quality standards.
- Redesign and update plans whenever
there is a change to program, process, procedure (Process Flow(s),
Hazard Analyses, HACCP plans, etc.).
- Develop and maintain
documentation such as standard operating procedures and maintenance of
manuals, policies and procedures.
- Develop and provide training for
food safety and quality requirements.
- Maintain training records for
critical food safety and quality elements.
- Conduct facility food safety
internal audits and manage third party auditing programs.
- Work with Operations Manager on
any food safety issues or corrective actions.
- Ensure the company's food safety
procedures are followed at all times.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Two (2) years practical
experience in Food Safety or QA in the food industry preferred or
qualifying course study in Food Science related field.
- PCQI, PSA, HACCP/HARPC certified
or able to attend training and become certified.
- Previous experience with GFSI
programs, Safe Quality Foods or SQF Practitioner.
- Ability to make timely,
independent decisions and exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
- Ability to communicate
effectively with employees and management.
- Ability to read and understand
technical records, follow policies, procedures and instructions, and
respond to management direction.
