Food Technologist (Ready Meal and Pasta)

Job Summary

The Food Technologist will be responsible for innovating and developing new products concepts, prototypes, and processes in response to customer or internal objectives and focuses on the development of ready meal and pasta products. The Food Technologist manages focused development of new products, which includes conceptual development, formulation, process, implementation, validation and continuous management and improvement, and delivers the required margin for customers and the business.

  • Contribute to the revenue and profit growth by developing new and improved ready meal and pasta products using both a scientific and culinary approach.
  • Test products and develop specific processing methods, leads product scale-up .Work with operations on initial production runs and as needed to maintain product quality levels
  • Create formulas/recipes for commercialization and costing; adapts formulas to production.
  • Conduct core ingredient research, development of new products, cost and quality improvements to current products, shelf life improvement and new product research.
  • Confer with vendors, process engineers, chefs, flavor experts, packaging and marketing specialists to understand available technology and provide ideas, solutions, and alternatives to meet food safety, quality, costs, and customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the overall team effort by accomplishing related tasks and by applying leadership skills and active participation.
  • Maintain an awareness of market food trends and comparative products from all major retailers/competitors and recommends product development ideas in line with those trends and coordinates interdepartmental activities.
  • 3+ years related work experiences at human food manufacturing company
  • Experience in lunch variety of sauce products development in a food manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of food science and formulation as well as manufacturing process
  • Knowledge or experience on dough rheology or bakery
  • Proficient with computers, MS office and software programs (GENESIS) and strong communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience of NPD process
  • A culinary certification is a plus
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as with groups
  • Feel comfortable to taste and work with ready meal products consist of meat components
  • Bachelorís degree in food science/food technology or similar is required; MS degree is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $55,000.00 /year
