Summary The position is responsible for the research, planning and development of new products from concept through successful commercialization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Conducts research, and new product development of foods.

 

  • Work directly with Sales, Operations, vendors and collaborate internally with the R&D team to develop products that meet or exceed our customer’s expectations.

 

  • Studies methods to improve quality of foods such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods.

 

  • Establishes standards for quality and safety that adhere to FDA regulations and GFSI standards.

 

  • Conduct sensory tests to validate, direct projects and establish shelf life.

 

  • Provide technical expertise to solve challenges with ingredients, suppliers, regulations, cost restrictions and manufacturing.

 

  • Create and maintain specifications and other key technical documents for new products.

 

  • Write manufacturing procedures and testing protocols to optimize production.

 

  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the company values, code of ethics and standards of conduct.

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelors (B.S.) or Master's degree (M. S.) or equivalent preferred.

 

Computer Skills

 

Proficient using spread sheets and word processing software. Knowledge of ERP or customer management software is a plus.

    • Create and maintain specifications and other key technical documents for new products.
    • Write manufacturing procedures and testing protocols to optimize production.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: B.S. or M.S. in Food Science or related field. Culinary background desired.
