Beam Suntory currently has the following position open in Clermont, Kentucky , United States.
Sr. Manager, Product & Process Development, Global R&D, Whiskies &
Lead the process and product development R&D function for whiskies and
aged spirits, providing direct process development engineering support, as
well as leading overall process and product development technical function
and testing oversight. Role provides process development expertise and
product development guidance to a wide range of innovation, cost savings and
quality improvement projects from ideation through commercialization, and
identifying and commercializing new enabling science & technologies for
Beam Suntory that fit with consumer and strategic business needs. This
position provides broad exposure to operations, marketing/business teams,
finance and other internal and external partners globally.

Process and product development leadership on cross-functional new
product/process development teams and quality improvement/cost savings
Plan, direct, execute, review and report on research activities involving new
product/process development and process/product improvement projects. Write,
review, and issues process specifications to support work.
Collaborate with others to establish and meet project success criteria.
(Includes all project stages from concept development, lab/pilot plant
creation, process design, commercialization/scale-up to full production).
Make recommendations on process design and materials (eg;
hoses, gaskets, barels, liners, filter materials)
product design, equipment selection and capital recommendations.
Initiate, design, and lead technical investigations into complex processing
problems requiring new and innovative solutions
Identify opportunities to adapt/adopt new science and technologies or
capabilities across BSI spirit categories including through leveraging
external partners and suppliers.
Incorporate consumer drivers and related sensory, insights, packaging and
regulatory considerations in designing right fit.
Maintain solid technical and business understanding of the competitive set,
supplier base and adjacencies, emerging technologies, as well as on and off
premise practices, trends, and other external changes that could influence
industry and product direction. Effectively incorporate this learning into
business plans and to drive new idea potential.
BS or MS Chemical Engineering/Food Engineering or related. Beverage
experience preferred, alcohol
processing/distillation experience a strong plus. Knowledgeable in processing
equipment design, capabilities and operating considerations.
Technical Process R&D experience in Consumer Products, including cross
functional program/project leadership 8+ years, with demonstrated
achievements in creating differentiating innovation, including design and
5+ years experience of direct people management.
Familiar with the principles and mechanics of experimental design and
Ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones to accommodate
Strong troubleshooting, strategic thinking skills and ability to translate
technical information in a non-technical way.
Demonstrated strong project management, and managing multiple priorities.
Clearly and concisely communicate key project milestones to business partners
and upper level management.
Ability to travel globally to partner in project work, and lead project
implementation at other BSI facilities – ranging approx. 20-50% with half
local Kentucky operations and Chicago corporate office, and balance other BSI
Physically fit for work in lab, pilot plant and plant environments. Willing
to consume alcoholic beverage samples in accordance with evaluation/research
needs. Carry up to 50 pounds.
