The Lab Technician I R&D is accountable for the delivery of lab, pilot and full-scale experimental work as assigned by a supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Operate and maintain a safe, accident-free laboratory environment. Follow all company safety rules and good laboratory and manufacturing practices in performing job duties.
Assist in lab experiments and perform routine tests assigned by supervisor including analytical, application, processing, and basic research.
Maintain skills required to safely and properly operate specified lab instrumentation and equipment according to listed work instructions.
Train personnel on the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments, where applicable.
Maintain a legible and organized laboratory notebook for recording of results.
Compile, tabulate, chart and submit results of experiments to supervisor in a timely manner.
Responsible for the daily upkeep of the laboratory (including the pilot plant) and all applicable equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a BS degree, preferably in sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Food Science), or related field. Experience in a lab environment required. A candidate with an AA degree and relevant lab experience will also be considered.

SPECIAL SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Good time management and multi-tasking ability required. Should be computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and all pertinent R&D software.
