Food Safety Intern - Bells, TN

The job responsibilities of the Intern students for the Technical Service Department might involve but is not limited to:

  • Collect and evaluate process control data (throughput, physical variables, product attributes, etc.)
  • Analyze enzyme inactivation post blanching ;
  • Blancher validation research per commodity and styles;
  • Assist in development of statistical grade standards;
  • Evaluate quality level of frozen processed products and assist in development of digital grading instructions;
  • Assist in calculations of rolled throughput yield, Cpk, and Sigma
  • Evaluate quality level of supplies received to process blended products for sale;
  • Coordinate electronic sorting equipment to in-process KPI’s;
  • Evaluate effectiveness of blending equipment and report potential improvement opportunities
  • Assist in evaluation of movement vegetables through the systems;
  • Assist in the development of modern training methods for quality personnel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a student pursuing a degree in Food Science or Related Field
  • Completed 3 years of Food Science or Related Field core curriculum
  • Minimum GPA of 3.25
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team
