Job Summary

To design, develop, and commercialize creative product offerings according to customer requirements as well as maintain current codes in production within account portfolio. Responsible for all R&D activities on assigned account team.

Responsibilities and Duties

Design products using working knowledge of poultry processing capabilities. Design, develop and maintain food products in accordance with internal and external customer requests and specifications.Write specifications according to quality standards, customer requirements and regulatory rules. Procure new ingredients, packaging and/or processing equipment as necessary to develop or improve current products.

Manage customer expectations for design, samples, and costing of products. Anticipate and respond to customer needs and requests. Facilitate communication between customer, account team, and production facilities. Focus on customer requirements within Simmons' process capability during development process.

Manage multiple projects across several customers. Manage timelines and deliverables of each project within established software programs for project tracking. Establish priorities and tasks for cross-functional team including sales, marketing, accounting, and plant personnel. Monitor progress of project plan and ensure action on required process.

Oversee commercialization of products . Collaborate with R&D commercialization manager and plant team for scale up of kitchen designs. Responsible for quality and consistency of new products. Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Education : Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Animal Science or related field or 4 years related work experience. Preferred Education : Related Master's Degree, CCS® and/or CRC® Certification, HACCP Certification all a plus.

Technical Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in Research & Development. Must have experience in management, product development and have a working knowledge of food science. Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
