Job Description

Job Title: Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Product Development Manager

Location: AAPP Plant Ė Greeley, CO

Department: Operations

Job Status: Full-Time

Job Type: Salary/Exempt

Summary: Provides leadership and support for all quality and food safety as well as new product research and development programs in alignment with the companyís Food Safety & Quality Assurance Standards and strategic plans. Ensures the quality of incoming raw material, product, processing, and finished goods meet and exceeds Quality Assurance and Food Safety standards as well as exceeds customerís specification and expectations. This is accomplished through effective planning, designing, GFSI audits, customer audits, and communicating Quality Assurance (QA), Food Safety (FS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPís), Global Food Safety (GFSI), and Safe Quality Food (SQF), policies, procedures, measures, and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned .

Designs, develops, and implements all Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs, policies, procedures, compliance standards, and performance metrics.

Ensures compliance to Formula Management Control and Process Control Specifications in order to ensure compliance to budgeted formula and regulatory requirements, as well as consistency and conformance to specification of product produced through auditing.

Oversee and lead HACCP and food safety team(s). Oversee and lead overall plant HACCP training.

Lead periodic internal & external food safety & defense audits.

Significant role in Research & Development program, formulation adjustments, product evaluations, and new product development, design, testing, compliance, and launch activities.

Owner of quality assurance manual and plantís BRC compliance.

Involved in companyís internal audit system for: Formula Control, SOPís and CCPís, GMP audits, supplier audits, customer audits, and other 3 rd party audits.

Investigate and follow up on customer complaints.

Supervise analysis and product evaluation process, off-standard production rejections and statistical collection.

Reports results and trends on a timely basis as established by direct supervisor.

Supervises, directs, and trains Quality Control staff, including review of work quality, staffing, discipline, performance assessment, and development.

Develop and manage relationships with external contacts including major customer & supplier representatives.

Actively promotes a safe work environment through training, adherence to safety protocols, and enforcement of safety rules"

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelorís degree in Science, Food Science, or related field, 7 years related work experience, and 5 yearsí experience in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of GFSI audits, Quality Assurance (QA), Food Safety (FS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPís), Global Food Safety (GFSI), and Safe Quality Food (SQF), principles, measures, and standards is preferred.

Employment Eligibility

Ability to provide proof of U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card) status.

Ability to pass pre-employment screening (e.g., drug screen, behavior assessment, etc.).

Language Ability:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and can comfortably interact with staff from plant floor to executive levels.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
Proficient skill level in MS Office applications.

Certificates and Licenses:
None required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervise Food Safety & Quality Assurance staff positions.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequent operation in cold-zero degree Fahrenheit environments.
