The primary purpose of this position is to manage execution of all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety activities and events that occur within the Warehouse and Repackaging Operation through constant oversight, training and vigilance. The Safety Manager will assure that all Customer, and applicable federal, state, and local GMP / food safety requirements are being met.  The Safety Manager assists other the companies in the Skidmore Group with their food safety programs and monitors leased warehouses.

 

Job Summary:

 

         Maintain Blending HACCP Program.

         Lead and maintain the facility to SQF - Certification and other certifications as -appropriate.

         Ensures that all regulatory programs are implemented, documented, and properly executed and verified.

         Responsible for supplier food safety program and document control.

         Lead the execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for Warehouse and Blending Operations. Assure completion of all sanitation activities to ensure corporate compliance.

         Accountable in providing facility leadership on activities to ensure compliance to all FDA, State, Local, Customer and 3rd Party audit requirements.  Leads the site management review for facility compliance and corrective actions and will lead all internal and external audits.

         Responsible for the training and implementation of Food Safety Management System that includes documentation, control and adherence to all appropriate sanctioning regulatory concerns including FDA and customer-driven requirements.

         Audit Warehouse and Blending Operation for compliance to Monthly Facility Food Safety Audit.  Also, assure compliance to 3rd Party audit requisites and customer food safety programs.

         Enhance site training materials to incorporate particular facility requirements and train personnel on Food Safety programs.

         Function as the primary food safety contact during crisis situations to ensure that appropriate procedures are implemented in order to maintain compliance with HACCP and food safety requirements (i.e., power outage, weather events, etc.)

         Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.  - Evaluate and recommend revisions to internal processes and policies to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

         Use effective communication, leadership skills and experience to work in a team environment with associates with effective planning and priority setting.

         Primary in house powered industrial equipment trainer.

         Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

         Bachelorís Degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or related field.

         3 to 5 years experience in operations with GMP / Sanitation / Food Safety responsibilities

         Understanding of the principles of food safety as applied to warehouse operations and ingredient blending.

         HACCP Certification; GMP / Sanitation Certification; SQF Expert Practitioner

         Detail oriented, organized, highly accurate, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

         Conscientious and flexible to the changing needs and demands of work.

         Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative in decision making.

         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

         Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

         Some travel can be expected for this position.
