Job Summary

Support Compass Operations by providing strategic direction and leadership in the field of Retail Food Safety & Supply Chain Safety as well as compliance with local, state and federal requirements. Ensure that products, processes and frameworks are in compliance with regulations, specifications, contract requirements and industry leading quality system standards.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

Strategic leadership of Compass Group Food Safety and Sanitation (Quality Assurance) initiatives such that Compass maintains and builds its culture as a proactive, best-in-class corporate citizen.

Responsible for the planning, direction and coordination of all Food Safety functions including Supply Chain Quality, Product Quality Assurance, Warehouse/Distribution and Continual Improvement across the Compass US business

Develops overall strategy that assures Compass Group continuously improves performance in Quality Assurance and food safety innovation while maintaining compliance with all Local, State, and Federal regulations.

Provide leadership, guidance and development of Food Safety department personnel as well as coordination and development of policy/process/training material for Compass’ operations and associates.

Ability to clearly communicate goals and objectives for various Food Safety related initiatives – whether it be process/policy/strategy related or data connected performance.

Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all new business/operational openings, relevant M&A and business strategy.

Serves as an agent of the company and representative/liaison to a variety of external entities

including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Customers, Suppliers, industry related groups, and

various nonprofit, educational, government, and community entities.

Developing SOP's, manufacturing standards, protocols, and procedures for quality assurance

Provide technical expertise in development of HACCP plans, chemical and any/all potential safety and environmental hazards used/present at all Compass Sites; take steps to reduce the use of problematic chemicals and to mitigate any potential safety and environmental health hazards.

Qualifications:

Four year degree in a related, technical field

Minimum of 10 years of Quality Assurance / Quality Control experience in food manufacturing and/or food retail

Expertise in principles, practices, laws and regulations related to Food Safety Systems

Experience in developing SOP's, manufacturing standards, protocols, and procedures for Quality Assurance

Demonstrated development and implementation of innovative quality systems / program

Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists

Highly effective written and verbal communications skills that can be used with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels

Highly developed interpersonal communications skills and cultural sensitivity

Highly effective presentation skills, training delivery skills and demonstrated knowledge/use of data analytics

Ability to work well in a fast paced, high volume environment

Ability to travel more than 40% of the time
