Sujiís Korean Cuisine is looking to add an Associate Product Developer to our growing team.

What We Do

Suji's Korean Cuisine was founded in October 2013 by our innovative founder, Suji Park. In 2016 Suji launched prepared meals and sauces available in leading retailers including Costco, Walmart and Target. Today our team is focused on launching new authentic Korean-style products with mainstream appeal to serve leading national retail customers. From frozen entrees to Korean BBQ, Sujiís Korean Cuisine products are clean-label and driven by a commitment to deliver delicious Korean flavors to the American consumer.

What youíll do

  • Reports into the R&D group, and works closely with Manufacturing, Sales, and Operations teams. Also works closely with our Founder in our Seattle office.
  • Creates detailed documentation to manage and track recipe and product development, QA compliance and customer requirements.
  • Makes independent decisions and works with cross-functional business teams to manage and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Plans and executes new recipe research and development, including sample testing, specification development, product analysis, and QA documentation.
  • Supports R&D with ingredient sourcing, shelf life studies, and heating instruction development.
  • Provides team and leadership communication of testing plans and results.
  • Provides support for culinary research, collaborating with Marketing and PR teams on food photography, package development, trend research, and social media applications.
  • Oversees sample inventories and fulfillment of sample for R&D and Sales purposes.
  • Assists with presentations at trade shows and customer meetings.

What you need

Education

Bachelorís degree in Food Science or Culinary Science (or similar) required

Skills And Experience

  • Experience with food product specification development, recipe development, sample analysis, shelf life studies and QA documentation.
  • Well-organized with strong project management skills including timeline development, deadline management, and timely communication.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment to both receive direction and provide independent decision-making.
  • Ability to create documentation with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency within the Microsoft office suite and G Suite applications.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism in representing the company to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Optional: Culinary experience and expertise with Korean cuisine specifically.

Position Requirements

  • Food Science or similar degree and minimum of 3 years in culinary position
  • Work out of the Seattle office on a daily basis with required travel for work (up to 35% of time)
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including some weekends and evenings
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Fluent in English with Korean language skills beneficial
  • Able to work in the US without sponsorship

Work Environment: This is a Seattle based position in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and copy machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet in the office.

Physical Demands: Will require periodically standing for long periods of time and occasionally the need to lift heavy items, and at times crouch, crawl, stoop and bend.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
