The Hygienic Design Food Scientist will be a dynamic leader that will partner with the plant team to develop, implement, and support sanitation and pest control program improvements at the North America (NA) manufacturing locations. This individual will be the lead expert in regards to hygienic design for the Americas. This position provides the opportunity to interact with cross-functional teams to ensure company programs and policies are met.


Main Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement through sanitation effectiveness and efficiency across assigned plants.
  • Support the implementation of key sanitation and pest control programs, program improvements, trouble shooting, training.
  • Lead sanitary design through direct involvement with project teams or by providing guidance to plant projects to ensure consistency.
  • Influence without authority for key strategic improvements.
  • Support Mondelez Sanitation strategies across North America manufacturing locations.






  • B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related sciences
  • 10 or more years of hygienic design experience required
  • 10 or more years of experience in the Food Industry or Pharma industry ideal
  • Project management skills a must
  • 5 or more years of related experience (Operations, Plant Quality/Sanitation, or corporate role)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills within cross-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of Pathogen Environmental Monitoring is preferred
  • Working knowledge of process improvements and Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) and hygienic design principles required
  • Ability to apply program and technical knowledge to lead and complete risk assessments such as allergen validations required
  • Ability to develop relationships and be seen as a team member cross functionally
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedule outside of core hours to support plant and business needs
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Influencing and negotiation skills a must
  • Presentation skills are required
