Job Summary: The Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Manager is responsible for ensuring that food products meet standards set by both the Company and regulatory authorities. Responsible for developing and reviewing quality and safety policies, as well as, manage audits by 3rd party inspectors. Manager will oversee and train quality assurance team, provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary measures, monitor team performance, and engage in the full recruitment cycle as needed, and is responsible to oversee manufacturing and production processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for daily management and function of the company’s Quality Systems.

BRC professional responsible for development, implementation, and sustaining programs, processes, and procedures necessary for achieving and maintaining BRC (current issue) certification.

Responsible for hazard analysis critical control points (HACCP) development, implementation, and sustaining programs, processes, and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of products produced per established HACCP Plans.

Lead plant contract sanitation activities, as well as internal sanitation & housekeeping (master sanitation schedule compliance).

Primary customer and supplier contact for quality concerns.

Provide technical support to address, correct, and prevent food safety and quality issues.

Quality interface for all co-manufacturing sites.

Plant Document Control System oversight to ensure overall compliance.

Review and approve controlled documents pertaining to Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory.

Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and work instructions for Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory.

Provide training on quality systems, policies, procedures, and programs including but not limited to BRC, HACCP, Food Defense, Allergens, GMP’s, Sanitation, Pest Control, certifications (kosher, organic, GFCO), Consumer Complaints, etc.

Primary auditor to monitor compliance to quality systems requirements.

Lead company through regulatory compliance audits.

Will work closely with research & development department to create product specifications and standards, including nutritional label generation (Genesis software).

Responsible for supervising quality assurance team.

Responsible for department budget.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field.

Required 5-7 years’ quality experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Experience with Food Safety Audit (BRC) expectations and requirements required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite in addition to knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.

Working knowledge HAACP and GMP principles preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting 50lbs, ability to adjust vision for close vision work. Occasional exposure to airborne dust, high humidity and extreme heat are possible in the plant.
