Position Description:

The Food Sanitation and Safety Director will report to our President and COO and will work with both our manufacturing facilities and Distribution teams to ensure we continue to have a robust food safety program. This person will help to develop, manage, teach and enforce food safety programs and activities that ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and the industries best practices including CGMP, HACCP, and Preventive Controls. They will be responsible for all auditing and on site reviews, while providing continuous training to associates in food safety.  They  will also be responsible  to  oversee  and  develop  the  Preventative  Control  Qualified  Individual  (PCQI),  while implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the program.

 

Responsibilities:

-Ensure we have effecting and effective sanitation programs

- Work in tandem with our Corporate Quality Assurance team to provide seamless leadership and personnel development for both our QA and Food Safety leaders

-Maintain internal and external auditing programs

- Provide continuous training and monitoring resources/tools to developed our managers and associates in safe service of food distribution

-Research best practices to ensure we are current in our practice of sanitation and food safety

-Reporting, tracking and analysis of internal and external auditor reports

-Train and develop safety and sanitation associates as needed

-Maintain Food Safety Preventive Controls (FDA/FSMA)

-Plan, organize, develop and lead training for food safety standards mandated by government regulations FDA/USDA (including FSMA)

-Maintaining full compliance with customer’s specifications and corporate standards include the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).

-Create a food safety culture

-Create preventative systems to ensure compliance

-Maintain training and certification programs focused on FDA/USDA (including FSMA) for yourself and associates

 

Qualifications:

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Strong computer skills, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

-Strong analytical skills

-Ability to create reports and present from data collected

-Ability to provide knowledge to associates and managers about safety

-Strong understanding of food service sanitation practices

 

Knowledge & Skills:

-Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Biology or equivalent knowledge required

-Knowledge of DOT, DOH, OSHA, Food Safety, HACCP and PCQI certifications

-7-10 year’s quality management and food safety experience

-Expertise implementing Food Safety requirements

-Experience in conducting external and internal audits

-Proactive problem-solving and creative decision-making skills

-Ability to facilitate groups and communicate effectively at all levels in the organization

-Strong oral, written and interpersonal skill with analytical, organizational and planning expertise

-Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
