The Sanitation Superintendent will provide leadership, direction, and lead continuous improvement for the Sanitation Services at the assigned Bell & Evans (Farmers Pride Inc.) facility/facilities. This position will interact with all levels within the organization, customers, vendors, auditors and regulatory authorities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

Provides leadership and awareness on all Sanitation topics relevant to the assigned facility/facilities within the organization
Coach and Develop Sanitation Supervisors and direct reports
Ensure training is current, implemented and effective for all Sanitation Team Members on cleaning & sanitizing procedures, safety, food safety & applicable regulatory requirements
Manage the operational and fiscal activities for the Sanitation department including staffing, budgets & financial goals
Ensure programs, processes, people and equipment are in place to execute daily and less than daily sanitation activities, including facility janitorial activities, laundry services, and tote & tray washing services.
Leads & collaborates with facility key stakeholders on sanitation issues and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, methods or procedures to improve sanitation standards
Assure compliance with GMPs and company policies
Manage chemical vendor relationships and ensure utilization of services and resources
Compiles reports regarding key metrics, inspections and/or corrective actions to manage the business and lead Continuous Improvement opportunities
Collaborates with Food Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Operations and all relevant functional areas to set and meet business objectives for Sanitation.
Ensure that each facility has effective and validated Sanitation systems for existing equipment, facility and process areas
Participate in new equipment or process projects to assess and develop sanitation standards and protocols
Relationship development with internal, external and regulatory partners to ensure effective communication and awareness on expectations and solutions
Participate in and/or support routine regulatory inspections, 2nd and 3rd party audits
Delivers and interprets reports to facility key stakeholders and Leadership Team

Required Qualifications (Due to the high volume of applicants, only those who meet the minimum qualifications will be selected for interviews):

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related field and 5+ years’ experience in the food industry desired; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered.

Comprehensive knowledge of USDA- FSIS, FDA and HACCP requirements.
HACCP and/or PCQI Certified Preferred
GFSI certification – SQF Practitioner preferred
Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Travel less than 10% of the time
Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills
Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook) Proficient

FOOD SAFETY:

Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns. This position will serve as the back-up for the Sanitation Supervisors.

Primary job duties performed during Sanitation cleaning shifts. Ability to climb over/under equipment, use ladders and/or catwalks. Ability to use senses to observe: sight, smell, touch.
Ability to be readily available to support sanitation activities from any location (off-site, office and plant floor)
