Position Summary:


We are looking for a highly motivated and driven Quality and Food Safety Manager. The role will consist in managing the Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Quality Control and respective compliance functions within the established legal guidelines and internal standards to ensure the highest quality production in a safe and efficient manner.


As Quality and Food Safety Manager, you will monitor the supply chain Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) program, Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety programs of our multiple co-manufacturing facilities. Reporting directly to the Director of New Product Development, you will also be responsible for managing and developing the Quality team. You will be led by a strong sense of integrity, honesty and team spirit.


Key Missions will include:


  • Oversees the company Quality Control program by working closely with Production Managers to monitor quality, food safety and traceability data from raw materials to finished goods.
  • Manages risk assessment based supplier approval for FSMA compliance.
  • Performs vulnerability assessment for new product development and manages shelf life studies.
  • Leads the management of non-conformances and provides professionally written resolutions to satisfy customer expectations regarding consumer concerns and complaints.
  • Works closely with the Sales and Marketing/NPD departments in developing product specifications. Provides support for new product launches ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborates with the Operations department in regards to quality control duties such non-conformances, retain inspection, corrective actions, etc.
  • Conducts and oversees both internal and third party audits to ensure compliance to food safety standards, good manufacturing practices and specifications.
  • Develops professional relationships with co-manufacturing leadership teams, quality leaders, suppliers, regulators and auditors to ensure product safety strategies are implemented.
  • Establishes Quality & Food Safety metrics that align with the overall business objectives.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Oversees the creation and implementation of NSI’s social responsibility objectives.
  • Coordinates new product launches “commercialization” with the NPL Team, including specification alignment, packaging development and project management.


The ideal candidate will have:


  • A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field. Masters a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Quality and Food Safety related to food manufacturing environments.
  • Previous experience in oversight of Food Safety programs in multiple locations is strongly desired.
  • Experience with natural and organic products is a strong plus.
  • Full understanding of USDA regulations, FDA regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge and certifications in GMP, SQF, HACCP and FSMA PCQI is a plus.
  • Direct experience with GFSI certification schemes (SQF, BRC, etc.) is preferred.
  • Prior experience developing and managing a team for at least three years.
  • Willing to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with a sincere team spirit.
  • Strong systems skills including MS Office, G Suite and ERP systems (SAP Business One preferred).
