Position Summary:

The Food Safety & Compliance Supervisor supports the QA Department by leading and managing GFSI, Regulatory, Customer Audits and Identity Preserve Certifications for the plant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the organization and flow of master document control and revisions for the facility according to schedules and on an ad hoc basis. Update master file and sends out notification of changes as well as triggers scheduled reviews of documents.
  • Create and provide reports to QA Department to ensure information is up to date and audit ready
  • Understand and implement Customer requirements
  • Manages Internal Audit of Quality Management System to include: Supplier Approval, Environmental Monitoring, Customer Complaints, and Document Control
  • Manages the Alchemy training system by creating and managing group reports and creating site specific trainings to upload into the system to insure completion of requirements under SQF and IFS
  • Manages Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) Log and Verification
  • Manages Continuous Improvement Table
  • Conducts audits and submittal of corrective actions
  • Assist with HACCP/Food Safety & Quality Plan as requested
  • Member of HACCP Team, Crisis Management Team, Recall Team, Management Team
  • Track and Monitor QA Holds
  • Maintain records for Quality and Food Safety Audits and assist in those audits.
  • Facilitates and manages customer requests for our Identity Preserve Programs (Kosher, Halal, and Gluten Free)
  • Leads special project assignments as necessary requiring extreme attention to detail and in-depth knowledge of the QA programs
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field AND 2 years’ of experience in plant leadership position
  • Previous team leadership experience in a food, beverage or consumer packaging environment
  • Previous experience forecasting, developing budgets, and developing metrics
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Physical Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Must be able to work in hot, humid, or cold environment for 2+ hours per shift

  • Must be able to sit for 7+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to work in crowded and/or confined spaces
  • Must be able to reach and grasp up to 2 hours per shift
  • Must be able to perform fine manipulation and feel for 2+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to push/pull 1+ hours per shift
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken or written word and distinguish objects or equipment visually
