Ensure consistent productions of high quality and safe food products that comply with product specification, federal safety guidelines that meet or surpass consumer expectations. The position will research, implement and maintain all quality systems. This position will supervise the training process of the quality technicians on quality procedures and policies along with organizing various on-line continuous improvement trainings that would benefit the department. This position will operate under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager and perform routine work independently.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Ensure that workflow meet the demands of production by verifying that all quality activities are performed, documented and reported in a proficient manner.
Helps QA Manager in the development, coordination, and implementation of HACCP, Food defense, and other food safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with GFSI standards, USDA guidelines and FSMA.
Participate in the investigation of customer concerns, USDA non-compliances and implementation of corrective action.
Lead internal GMP audits.
Participate in 3rd party GFSI, Customer and Regulatory audits.
Monitor vendor compliance by ensuring receipt of COA’s with each inbound shipment.
Train quality technicians on quality procedures and identify online training materials for performance management and continuous improvement.
Facilitate completion of colleague training, including creation of training materials. Monitor colleague attendance at mandatory training and maintain the training matrix.
Maintain all recordkeeping related to plant safety and quality issues.
Conduct sanitation and allergen validation tests as needed along with any other tests required for verification and validation purposes.
Lead projects as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Models a positive, resilient and results-oriented approach. Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field; or five years of direct experience in lieu of degree.
Two to five (2-5) years’ related experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Thorough technical knowledge of food safety and food quality systems.
Knowledge on federal and state food industry, sanitation and pest control regulations.
Previous experience with independent or third-party audits. Demonstrated ability to work with and provide direction to internal and external cross-functional teams.
Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and FSMA.
Evidence of organization, planning and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple ongoing priorities.
Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, make sound business recommendations and exercise discretion and judgment.
Evidence of highly developed communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) and the ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
Computer Proficiency (Microsoft Office, databases, Internet, etc.).
