Food Safety and Quality Manager -
Location - US preferred east coast
This position leads and manages
the Quality and Food Safety team in order to assure
the production of high quality, safe and legally compliant products that meet
the desired product design and customer expectations. This role is
responsible for ensuring that the operations of Mars Symbioscience
are maintained in accordance with relevant requirements for: the manufacture
of dietary ingredients and foods (21 CFR part 117), dietary supplements (21
CFR 111), and electronic records (21 CFR 11), as well as their equivalent EU
regulations. This role provides governance of the Quality and Food Safety
Management process and leads the implementation of the Mars Standards.
What are we looking for?
of Science degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, or related
technical field required. Advanced degree preferred.
of 8 years relevant experience in Dietary Supplement, Food Quality
and/or External Co-Manufacturing environment with proven capabilities
leading other technical teams/projects
technical experience in the dietary supplement industry.
in relevant food laws (FDA 21 CFR parts 117, 111 & 11 and EU
2 years' experience leading teams (direct/indirect)
understanding of quality systems and food safety programs
be able to draw on personal experience and apply own judgment to reach
in HACCP, GMPs, ISO 22000, ISO 9001 quality and food safety management
understanding of food microbiology, analytical chemistry, and sensory
understanding of engineering, manufacturing equipment, and controls
in statistical quality control systems
What would your key
Management and coaching of the Q&FS Team, supporting the development
of a talent pipeline for Q&FS at site level including
compliance to relevant 21CFR 111, 21 CFR 117, and 21 CFR 11 (and EU
equivalent) regulations for the use/release of raw materials and finished
Quality Strategy Deployment at the site, improving established ways of
working and delivering against key metrics reflected in the company
business and related quality objectives/metrics
and supports CocoaVia brand and Mars standards
implementation at the site and drive the appropriate Q&FS mindset
and supports approval of co-manufacturing sites from a Quality
standpoint, improving established ways of working
efficient quality management system, in compliance to relevant
legal/regulatory and internal Mars standards, including CAPA and
line of contact for legal authorities and CocoaVia
on product related Q&FS requests as the “quality responsible person”
for the brand
key metric, incidents and Continuous
Improvement reviews to ensure transparency at management level and
coordinate site CAPA activities
quality and food safety incidents at the site level, supporting decision
making for out of specification materials and products, ensuring that
relevant corrective and preventive actions are defined and implemented
for site approval of all product, raw materials, packaging and process
specifications, quality food safety risk assessments and change
management, using the defined and agreed ways of working
