LET’S GET BREWING! The Process Engineer will instill a continuous improvement excellence culture and stimulate management thinking about structured problem solving to ensure the successful application of CI/Lean principles, concepts, tools and methodologies for the company. This will be accomplished by developing, recommending and implementing continuous improvement strategies designed to reduce cost, eliminate product / process variability and achieve measurable increases in manufacturing margins, quality, productivity, and safety while exceeding related operational / customer satisfaction performance measures.

BLENDING TO PERFECTION. The crucial step to this position’s success.

  • Develop technical mastery of the core production processes. Execute packaging material problem solving work in the supply chain. Problems could include:
    • Learn all key safety items related to plant operations.
    • Learn inputs, outputs, and transformations of the process.
    • Learn how each basic component operates and its application in the process.
    • Learn quality parameters/specifications and how to measure quality.
    • Complete new manager technical qualification.
  • Identify key process parameters and their impact on the process.
    • Learn process parameters (pressure, flow, temperature, speed/rate, timing, of components.
    • Complete a Quality Defect Matrix.
  • Learn capacities and constraints.
  • Lead initiative/capital project.
    • Lead Commissioning, Qualification, Verification (CQV) process.
    • Participate and lead GSUM/FEE.
    • Lead material improvement projects, which could include managing material changes, qualifying alternate materials, delivering material cost savings or participating in new product launches.
  • Stabilize core production process areas to deliver critical results. Problem solving and improvement work will involve the following activities:
    • Collecting and analyzing data from suppliers, plant operations, customers, and consumers.
    • Designing and executing experiments, at both supplier sites and in plant operations.
    • Validating improvements/corrective actions will deliver the desired benefits.
    • Implementing the improvements/corrective actions in the supply chain.
    • Partner with New Product Development, Engineering and Marketing in decisions on final package design for new packaging initiatives.
    • Managing specifications and changes with associated testing or project work.
    • Written reports on testing, validations and problem-solving measures.
  • Supports and complies with GMP’s. Understands and follows emergency action plan.
  • Actively participates in all food safety and site related training. Communicates any food safety and quality issues to production personnel and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

THE SIMPLE INGREDIENTS. Ideal candidates will meet the following requirements.

  • BS in Engineering discipline and up to 3 years of manufacturing experience, consumer products operation ideal.
  • Prior experience in continuous improvement initiatives and Lean implementation a plus.
  • Understands the CQV process – Commissioning, Qualification, Verification process. Ability to design and execute experiments and/or develop and execute Commissioning/Qualification/Verification plans.
  • Apply knowledge of continuous improvement and engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost calculations, gathering production information, and production scheduling.
  • Ability to develop a sampling plan, sample, analyze and draw statistically based conclusions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to work a problem from problem statement development through to root cause identification and systemic corrective action implementation.
  • Proactive, high initiative individual. Action and results oriented with ability to work in a fast paced, challenging environment.
  • Strong time management, prioritization and follow through skills. Demonstrated ability to manage several tasks simultaneously through to completion while meeting the needs of multiple customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive basic coaching/direction and execute work assigned in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Analytical capability with a high level of creativity.
  • Good financial acumen.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Daily Management Systems (DMS) – ability to leverage daily management approach to own and manage a system to sustain delivery of expected results over time.
