Description

Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for monitoring Choctaw Nation facilities to identify and mitigate environmental safety and health hazards as well as maintain a variety of environmental safety and health programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety and health for our associates, guests, and communities.

Primary Tasks:

  • Identify training needs through current statistical trends/indicators and prepares/administers appropriate risk-specific training and incentive program.
  • Develop environmental safety and health programs that ensure a safe and healthy environment for tribal members, patrons, and employees.
  • Conduct on-site and third-party audits to check for compliance with environmental safety and health policies.
  • Investigates the root causes of environmental safety and health incidents and prepares reports with findings and corrective actions; Provide emergency response services in situations concerning imminent health hazards.
  • Provide data reporting for Environmental Safety & Health Manager and other tribal leadership on compliance concerns, analyze incident data to determine proactive and mitigation strategies for trending hazards.
  • Leads health and safety meetings and acts as a resource for the Choctaw Nation Environmental Safety & Health team.
  • Conducts a proper plan review and consultative services for new construction and remodeling of food service facilities.
  • Interprets and reviews related codes, standards, and departmental regulations recommending updates and changes as needed.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or related fields
  • Registered Professional Sanitarian(RS) and/or Registered Professional Environmental Specialist (RES)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • 2 years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety

TARGET

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or related fields
  • REHS/RS (Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian) professional credential from the National Environmental Health Association
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently or in a group and manage priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Microsoft Office Certification (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • 4 years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety
