SUMMARY: This role will serve as a direct extension of the Quality Director’s role and responsibilities. Working closely with the Quality Director and other internal stakeholders, the Quality Manager will ensure various quality systems are routinely verified. This role will serve to ensure continuous improvement via vendor feedback, materials Quality Control, Root Cause Problem Solving and Consumer Feedback. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is striving to successfully influence an organization while working cross functionally. Key stakeholders are Supply Chain Planning, IT, Sales, Accounting, Warehouse, Bottling, Winemaking and vendors.


  • Create and implement various Food Safety protocols across multiple production sites in accordance with the principles of HACCP, FSMA and internal GMP’s
  • Conduct routine verification activities of Food Safety programs across multiple sites
  • Development and documentation of processes with other stakeholders to support ongoing continuous improvement in Food Quality and Food Safety
  • Support Data Manager by ensuring packaging specifications are correct and met, and help sites troubleshoot issues with meeting specifications at bottling, with a focus on Migration while bottling
  • Perform new packaging and packaging alternative trials
  • Partner with Inventory Manager to inspect and disposition damaged goods
  • Perform Incoming Materials Quality Control – corks, labels and capsules
  • Develop, implement and manage a Supplier Qualification program for additive and packaging vendors
  • Manage new product approvals and regular requalification of additives and wine treating materials for DWC
  • Manage a Master Approved Supplier and Wine Additives list
  • Effectively communicate process and results to stakeholders
  • Implement and manage Incoming Ingredient Inspections programs across multiple sites
  • Administer the Document Control system for the Packaging team and assist in managing and developing additional systems across multiple sites as needed
  • Assess risk and develop programs that will address Severe Quality Incident Prevention, such as faulty ingredients, Non-Conforming Product, or wine out of specification
  • Assist as needed with Quality Assurance laboratory standardization and best practices
  • Participate in and conduct Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) exercises as needed; assist in identifying triggers for RCPS


  • Bachelor’s degree or an accredited degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in winery production, with focus on Bottling, Laboratory, Winemaking and Cellar practices
  • Experience with and knowledge of HACCP or other Food Safety program
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (i.e. ISO 9001) is desired
  • Wine sensory evaluation experience is desired
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Must be a team player, be open to suggestions and able to collaborate with others across the company at all levels
  • Possess a pleasant, upbeat attitude with a commitment to accuracy, organization and attention to detail
  • Maintain a curious disposition with an ingrained sincerity to solve problems, offer solutions and drive changes within the organization

Supervisory and Budgetary Responsibility
This position does not have supervision of direct reports or budgetary responsibility.

Work Environment
This position operates in an office and production environment. Must be flexible with work schedule.
