Basic Purpose:
The Food Safety and Quality Manager oversees all quality
assurance programs and ensure compliance to all Federal and State regulatory
requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage
the Food Safety Programs including but not limited to HACCP, SSOP, GMP,
Pest Control, employee and supervisory training programs corrective
action plans and ongoing product updates
- Organizes
department personnel scheduling to ensure adequate staffing coverage,
manage time approvals and schedules.
- Manages
USDA and FSIS programs including acting as liaison to government
inspection personnel.
- Supports
regulatory product labeling and provision of nutritional information.
- Manages
the microbiology and shelf life programs.
- Supports
sales and marketing in regard to consumer and
customer complaints and new product development.
- Manages
Quality Assurance department staff including coaching, performance
management and appraisal, setting compensation levels, and problem
resolution.
- Other
duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum
5 years' experience in FSQA Food Safety Manager capacity or related role
in the meat industry.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees
FSQA Technicians and Supervisors
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Bachelor
of Science or equivalent
- Thorough
knowledge of HACCP and SSOP programs
- HACCP
Certified
- GFSI
Certified
- General
knowledge of USDA and FSIS regulations.
- Understanding
of meat processing.
- Knowledge
of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes
and regulations applicable to food safety and quality
- Understanding
of principles and practices of food sensory, food processing,
manufacturing, and packaging.
- Ability
to use Microsoft Word, and Excel software programs, TMS and Product
Vision experience helpful
- Able
to develop and maintain spreadsheets
- Working
knowledge of quality auditing, food safety and food quality standards
(regulatory and customer)
- Ability
to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- Ability
to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,
diagram or schedule form.
- Ability
to calculate figures, analyze reports, determine processing rates, work
with percentages and apply basic algebra and
geometry
- Bilingual
is a plus
- Strong
safety record
- Ability
to meet attendance guidelines and work flexible hours (including some
weekends and overtime) to perform all duties and responsibilities
- Ability
to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs. as required.
- Ability
to maintain an effective working relationship with all contacts both
inside and outside the company.
