Background of the Job

The purpose of a Deploy Food Scientist is to support non-innovation business sustainability and growth via strong partnerships between our supply chain and quality partners, creating the link up to our design teams. The role includes the support of R&D related projects to maintain full service in our factories, solve business continuity challenges, deliver resilience opportunities, and drive continuous improvement and complexity reduction projects. The role includes working closely with our quality counterparts to identify Consumer Complaints improvement opportunities and implement changes.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

As a member of the Deploy team, you will help shape the role of Deploy in Foods. Work closely with the Foods supply chain partners to identify areas and lead technical projects E2E, which deliver a measurable positive impact on the operation.

  • Lead and deliver laboratory-produced product optimization, new ingredients, or ingredients from new suppliers screening and validation for quality and value improvement projects.
  • Perform, when required, pilot plant trials and all analytical and sensory evaluations of the samples
  • Conduct product showings/cuttings with cross-functional teams, including the Culinary team and Consumer technical insights teams.
  • Interpret analytical, testing & showings results and suggests scientifically sound next steps (with appropriate assistance and support).
  • Lead the process of specification creation/ updates in SAP Product Lifecycle Management from the request to the approved status and work with ingredient specialists to implement updates or new ingredient specs if necessary
  • Lead the delivery of the Third-Party Manufacturing Manual for outsourced product for support of business service needs
  • Participate in factory trials for commercialization when required.
  • Identify improved ways of working and simplified processes.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelors Degree required, in Food Science preferably.
  • 0-2 years of relevant scientific experience (education included)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Operates according to procedures and ways of working in line with Unilever frameworks, standards, and policies (SHE, SEAC, etc.), relevant regulations (i.e., FDA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as well as Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Adheres to all company policies, programs, rules, regulations, and safety rules.
