Position Summary

Assist Kroger facilities in compliance to federal, state and corporate food safety and quality requirements as they relate to the manufacture, transportation, and distribution of food through auditing, issue resolution, benchmarking and knowledge transfer. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire division in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and Kroger food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements as they relate to the manufacture, transportation, and distribution of food products
  • Conduct food safety, quality, and training compliance audits at manufacturing plants, distribution centers/supplier facilities; perform detailed inspection/review, provide issue resolution to audit findings, communicate findings and submit written reports
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to facilities related to food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, training and SQF certification
  • Assist in the development and review of company policies, procedures, and standards to meet federal regulations and conform with industry best practices in areas of food safety, quality, and sanitation
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing plants and distribution centers to develop, maintain, and improve food safety plans for required products
  • Keep abreast of food safety regulatory developments and industry practices
  • Assist in the development and presentation of Food Safety and Quality training materials for facility personnel
  • Support food safety and quality culture within the Kroger network
  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirement
  • Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles

Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in food science or a related field
  • HACCP certification
  • 5+ years of progressive food manufacturing, food safety and quality experience
  • Any auditor certification/experience; SQF and/or GFSI implementation experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail and ability to draw conclusions
  • Strong facilitation and training skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e., FDA, USDA, PMO)

Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • Any lead auditor certification/experience
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in food transportation and distribution
  • Prior involvement in professional and regulatory organizations
  • Proven application of regulatory requirements and guidance into plant policies
