Position Summary

This role is a global function supporting CP Kelco’s manufacturing sites globally. The role will assist with guidance to continuously improve the food safety of CP Kelco products e.g. by implementing state of the art technologies to LEAN out processes. The role will assume the role as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Microbiology and as such guide the organization and customers on microbiology. The role will ensure alignment of QC functions globally, including overseeing proficiency and MEMP programs.

 

This position is addressed to someone that will be ideally based on our Lille Skensved site (close to Copenhagen), where there are about 360 employees. It is one the largest production site in Zealand within the food and process industry. Onsite, there is also an Innovation Center composed of about 50 employees.

 

Key Critical Outputs

Facilitate food safety improvements globally by guiding the organization on Microbiology. Ensure clear and transparent communication and contribute to Customer Satisfaction and Growth. Be a team player and be able to network internally and influence right decisions on e.g. sanitary design and test plans. Modernize the local QC microbiology departments.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Global Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Microbiology providing service internally as well as externally.
  • Identifying opportunities for improving effectiveness e.g. methods, equipment, test plans, on- or at-line monitoring, etc.
  • Supporting on test and cleaning validation, including being able to apply statistical tools.
  • Contributing in communication with customers, when relevant.
  • Aligning QC-microbiology within platform and when applicable between platforms.
  • Assisting on defining specifications that match capabilities.
  • Working with plants to become in control of microbiological hazards.
  • Establishing proficiency programs and oversee and review local MEMP programs.
  • Assisting Customer Request whenever required.
  • Attending exhibitions, tradeshows, etc. to pick up trends and tendencies within microbiology.
  • Documenting and communicating.
  • Assisting on Crisis Management, when applicable.

  • The Quality Leadership Team as an associate team member.
  • With Commercial and Marketing on Customer requests and issues handling.
  • Innovation on setting up specifications.
  • With the Strategic Platforms to communicate customer expectations for microbiological hazards.
  • Regulatory Affairs to be able to communicate the changing regulatory environment to the organization.
  • With Plants on alignment and optimize processes in QC as well as manufacturing.


Quality Ownership

Overseeing Microbiology as a Subject Matter Expert and ensuring continuous improvement across CP Kelco. Working closely with internal as well as external (customers, suppliers, authorities, etc.) stakeholders to ensure an open, honest and clear communication. Support Director, Global Quality and Food Safety by communicating timely and effectively.

Requirements

Education

  • PhD or MSc. in Microbiology, ideally combined with some hands-on experience (internships or similar)
  • Knowledge in Food Microbiology

 

Experience

  • A proven track record of applied Microbiology experience (at least 1-2 years)
  • Up-to-date with the latest Microbiology and Regulatory Affairs trends
  • Working experience in a Global/Matrix environment is a plus
