Overview:
The Sanitation Supervisor provides
direction, training and development of associates, supervises area of
responsibility and is responsible for overall day-to-day responsibility for
Sanitation and housekeeping services for the plant.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise
the day-to-day implementation of sanitation protocols and safety
measures to achieve AFNA regulatory agency regulations (SSOP, GMP, OSHA,
SQF, etc.).
- Ensures
shut-down processes are followed to ensure proper sanitation.
- Monitors
the daily activities of assigned staff, providing instructions and
performance feedback to ensure that productivity and quality objectives
are met or exceeded.
- Identifies
and resolves process and equipment problems, using available resources
to maintain sanitation, productivity and quality levels.
- Implements
approaches to improve quality and productivity by developing new ideas,
improving processes, and planning for upcoming equipment or process
changes
- Performs
additional tasks to support plant operations.
- Performs
other related and assigned duties as necessary.
- Oversees
all sanitation personnel to ensure work is being performed to SSOPs.
- Ensures
all sanitation is done to third party auditor compliance
- Will
work closely with QA/QC to ensure all sanitation policies ensure the
plant is, and stays, in a food safe manner
- Maintains
an adequate supply of all the necessary chemicals, supplies and
equipment to perform all sanitation tasks, as required.
- Keeps
a Master Sanitation Schedule of items that requires periodic attention.
- Develop
and implement cost savings opportunities. Continually strive to reduce
water and chemical consumption.
- Apply
disciplinary action as appropriate.
- Cover
Sanitation manager responsibilities during his/her absence.
- Responsibilities
often require overtime, and weekend hours
- Must
be able to effectively communicate with team members of all job levels.
- Other
duties & responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s
degree preferred.
- 3-5
years previous sanitation experience, preferably in a food grade
manufacturing facility. Minimum 1 year
experience in sanitation
- Knowledge
of food technology, food science, microbiology or chemistry required.
- GMP
trained
- Should
be detail and performance oriented, with high level of accuracy, and
excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong
leadership and team building skills.
- Articulate
communicator, who will have a positive and stimulating influence on
others with strong communication up and down the organization
- Work
independently; be competitive, flexible, exacting, demanding and able to
respond well to pressure and challenge.
- Strategic
thinker with the ability to set and meet goals and demonstrate
responsibility for own work as well as that of others.
- Must
be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to
changing situations.
- Understands
how to prioritize and plan department’s work flow and its relationship
to the overall plant operation.
- Computer
skills in report generation and Microsoft applications required.
- Follow
Company policy, Safety Standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's).
Reporting to this position: Sanitation Lead, Sanitation Specialists &
Sanitation Technicians.

Environment: The physical demands and work

Work environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the
employee is continuously exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving
mechanical parts. The work environment may be noisy, dusty, slippery, hot or
cold, depending on the particular product and manufacturing processes being
carried out. Workers are required to regularly wash their hands with
anti-bacterial soap and sanitizer, wear protective clothing including hair
nets, gloves, masks and overalls, which will help avoid contaminating
products.
Physical demands: Continuous use of arms, including shoulders, elbows,
wrists, hands, and fingers, handle, grasp or touch objects and tools. Repetitively
bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, pinch and grasp, lift, constant
standing for entire work shift. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Primarily will work in cold environment of 20-40 degrees or in hot
environment of 80-100 degrees Fahrenheit for extended period of time. Must
have the ability to smell and detect odors. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Maintain
mental capacity that permits making sound judgments regarding work and have
regular attendance. Capable of 24-hour, 7-day a week, emergency work
assignments.
