Food Safety Ops Manager, Go Stores - Seattle, WA Services LLC


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, or related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a large scale retail grocery, foodservice or manufacturing environment;
  • Knowledge of retail food safety regulations (local, state, FDA, USDA);
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Exceptional organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously;
  • Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements;

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 40%.

We are looking for an experienced Food Safety Operations Manager with the ability to identify opportunities, influence operations and business teams, and overcome resistance by creating strong, persuasive, balanced positions through the use of data. You have a track record of implementing food safety compliance programs within a business. You have an exceptional attention to detail and can drive end-to-end process requirements, program implementation, and continuous improvement. You have the ability to communicate food safety and compliance expectations and requirements to business leaders and cross-functional support teams at all levels of the organization. You also are skilled at writing well-reasoned and data-driven white papers, leveraging science, research, and industry best practices as appropriate.
You have exceptional problem-solving skills and manage crisis events with quick, high-judgment decisions.
The preferred location for the position is Seattle but we are also willing to consider San Francisco, New York or Chicago.

In this role you will support the Amazon Go Stores business leaders in ensuring that retail operations comply with federal, state, and local regulatory standards. At a high level, you will:

  • Develop and enhance Food Safety Operations programs for Amazon Go Stores;
  • Risk assess Amazon Go Stores operational processes within sites, design and execute compliance interventions, leverage auditing mechanisms, and analyze regulatory impacts of business models;
  • Work with Legal to provide food safety and compliance direction to Operations;
  • Write policies, standards, and Standard Operating Procedures for Amazon Go Stores processes and procedures; create and implement training programs to drive regulatory compliance execution at the site level;
  • Drive food safety compliance across Amazon Go Stores businesses by using data to identify compliance trends;
  • Write and edit business review documents to update business stakeholders about Food Safety and Compliance initiatives and performance of their respective business;
  • Create and monitor business metrics to track compliance and process effectiveness and define cadence of reporting to businesses and stakeholder groups;
  • 7+ years of experience managing Food Safety and Quality in a large scale retail or manufacturing environment
  • Experience interacting with the state and local regulators including Department of Health
  • Experience as a food manufacturing QA manager, auditor, or similar function;
  • Experience using and suggesting improvements to product management technology, including Customer Feedback Trending software, Facility Auditing or Response Management software, Supplier Database, or Product Life Cycle Management software;
  • Laboratory testing experience;
  • HACCP plan development experience (basic and/or advanced HACCP training);
  • Online/retail experience;
