Food Safety/Quality Coordinator – Co-Manufacturing
Position Overview:
The co-manufacturing Food Safety & Quality Coordinator is
responsible for oversight of Johnsonville’s co-man network from a food safety
and quality perspective. In this role you will be a resource, teacher and
mentor to the co-manufacturing network. Your passion for continuous
improvement efforts will enable our partners to meet the goals of making gold
standard products. This role is perfect for an individual who has a track
record of developing members, improving and expanding the scope of their
responsibilities and wants to continue to grow and be challenged.
Responsibilities:
- Work with external partners to
strategically coordinate continuous improvement efforts and programs
related to food safety and quality processes and systems, including
defining performance measures.
- Identify trends and process variation in
conjunction with co-manufacturing team; obtain corrective actions when
needed to optimize the safety and quality of products.
- Work with internal and external partners
to successfully resolve quality concerns involving appearance, taste,
packaging and/or foreign material contamination
- Develop clear and concise process
specifications for co-manufacturers that outline requirements and are
aligned with process capability
- Instill an atmosphere of mutual respect
and trust with manufacturing partners; leverage these relationships in
sharing best practices and learnings while protecting Johnsonville’s
trade secrets
- Monitor and share performance results
with co-manufacturers, taking action if a
co-manufacturer has a track record of failing to meet Johnsonville
Supplier Quality Expectations
- Ensure co-manufacturer plants are up-t-
date and compliant with regulatory issues
- Be an active member of the Johnsonville
FSQ Leadership and Exceptional Products Teams
- Coach the company co-manufacturing
Assistant Coordinator and provide guidance to the Sensory Commercialization
team regarding new product sensory evaluations
- Lead auditor for potential partner
audits, determining capabilities and practices of potential partners.
Initiate correspondence and review submitted corrective actions for
thoroughness and completeness.
- Use your technical expertise to educate
members on food safety and quality applications and systems
- Be the point person regarding any
regulatory action taken on items made for Johnsonville at a
co-manufacturer
- Participate in Innovation Product Reviews
and provide input on new products with regard to quality and food safety
- Coordinate consumer foreign object
complaint investigations with our co-manufacturing partners
- Identify on boarding process and on-going
assessments of co-manufacturers
- Develop future leaders as a pipeline for
future Co-manufacturer food safety and quality roles and/or operational
leadership positions
- Utilize your auditing skills to assist on
supplier and internal audits, minimizing risk.
- Lead capital pipeline planning efforts
for the food safety and quality area, working with impacted
co-manufacturing partners
- Back up for other Food Safety Quality
Coordinator positions
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Meat
Science, Microbiology or related field required
- 5-7 years of experience in a senior
quality leadership role required
- Experience in food required; meat/poultry
processing and harvest preferred
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of food
safety, HACCP systems, USDA/FDA, Animal Handling and Welfare programs
and regulatory requirements and have established regulatory
relationships
- Ability to effectively interact with
external partners and influence without authority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
- Understanding of Safe Quality Food
program preferred
- Experience with ready-to-eat (RTE)
product shelf life and microbiology
- Knowledge of continuous improvement
processes (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.)
- Experience working in SAP Business
Operating System desired
- Proficient with data management and
Statistical Process Control
- Strong analytical and problem-solving
skills
- Project management and team leadership
