Overview:
The QA Specialist primary responsibilities are providing
quality systems leadership, supervision and training to BCF manufacturing
facility. He/She leads quality and food safety
teams following BCF guidelines, while monitoring product quality trends and
implementing corrective/preventative actions as needed, leading to continuous
quality improvement. This position may manage laboratory, or production floor
activities while participating in quality and food safety
initiated improvement projects. He/She must
also have flexibility to provide support to all shifts as necessitated by
project’s needs, production schedule, quality issues, or lab requirements.
Additionally, regular weekend support may be required during increased
business demand.

fresh food production company focused on producing real lemon juice and lemon
byproducts. Based in Valencia, California, Bay Center™ supplies real lemon
juice for Chick-fil-A restaurants chainwide with the longer-term vision of
fostering innovation to improve Chick-fil-A Team Member and Guest experience.
Responsibilities :
OPERATIONS/LAB support
Supports investigations on improvement projects (e.g. holds, consumer
complaints), helps to identify root causes, and helps to identify
corrective actions and monitors for effectiveness
- Assume all responsibilities required for
proper management of the quality and food safety team meetings
- Coach and support Quality and Production
team members
- Provide technical support and training to
production and quality team members
- Evaluate and supply adequate work tools
to QA team
- Keep team members informed regularly on
any documents changes
- Maintain and audit Quality Monitoring
Scheme (QMS), food safety programs and compliance to SQF requirements
- Provide data analyses of finished
products and customer complaints issues and drive implementation of
corrective/preventative actions
- Present quality trend data on a team
level (production, operations and quality) for the purpose of informing
and problem solving
- Lead teams in improvement opportunities
- Improve existing quality and food safety
manufacturing programs (HACCP, Pre-requisite programs etc.) while
incorporating new products, new processes and changed regulatory
requirements
- Develop, document and implement operating
best practices for laboratory, analytical, food safety and product
quality systems.
- Support the Hold and Release Program by:
placing all substandard product on hold in MES and ERP; determining hold
product disposition with production team on timely manner.
- Review, revise and write quality and food
safety related procedures or work instructions
- Manage ETQ modules with support of QA
team members
- Investigate raw and pack materials issues
and assures documentation of non-conformities
- Performs internal audit with other QA
team members
- Implement lab best practices and enforce
GLPs and lab safety
- It is member of Food Safety meetings
- Responsible for investigating,
documenting and reporting product safety incidents
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science,
Microbiology, Chemistry, or other related field preferred or equivalent
experience
- 2-5 years previous manufacturing QA/QC
and/or laboratory experience in food industry
- Knowledge of quality systems, audits,
regulatory, statistics and analytical lab methods
- Prior supervisory and coaching
experienced preferred
- Strong problem solving and analytical
skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in
multifunctional teams
- Knowledge of food safety principles
required
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement
- Good verbal and written communications
skills
- Strong attention to detail and technical
writing ability
- Must be able to handle multiple
assignments
- Must be precise and accurate, well
organized worker
- Must be able to perform in a demanding,
fast-paced environment
- Good mathematical (basic statistical
skills highly desirable), problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency with computer systems,
personal computers, spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office, etc.) and
mainframe system with custom applications preferred
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- HACCP certified
- Basic SQF training
Preferred Qualifications:
HACCP certified; SQF trained
Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Travel Requirements: 10%

Microbiology, Chemistry, or other related field preferred or equivalent
