Do you have a passion for driving quality and product safety initiatives? E&J Gallo Winery is seeking a Senior Food Safety Specialist to join our corporate team, driving continuous improvement projects and leading sanitation and other prerequisite programs for our Eastern operations. You will be responsible for the all-important task of providing food safety systems (ISO FSSC 22000) and enterprise level Quality and Food Safety governance/support for our Eastern operations which are based in our brand new state of the art wine and spirits facility that is currently under construction in Fort Lawn, South Carolina.


What You Will Do


Innovate:

  • Designs, develops and implements operational food safety and quality standards, procedures, systems and strategies that align with corporate policy
  • Oversees the development of pre-requisite programs required to comply with food safety certification at all Eastern E. & J. Gallo facilities including Pewaukee, WI, Canandaigua, NY and Fort Lawn, SC and supports with similar functions at targeted co-manufacturers and suppliers
  • Provides subject matter expert support for HACCP and food safety programs across the enterprise
  • Designs and executes validation and verification programs to assure brand protection and specification conformance

Collaborate:

  • Partners with internal and external partners to assess and qualify potential supplier facilities
  • Drives audits and corrective actions with the supplier(s), generates gap plans, and presents out regularly to update Quality management on progress
  • Applies and interprets statistical techniques as appropriate in quality related issues both internally and externally applies statistical techniques to sampling protocols to drive targeted sampling based on risk

Lead:

  • Oversees the sanitation programs of our Eastern operations
  • Leads team projects or participates on teams to share information, perspective and direction on quality and food safety related issues
  • Engages with site and corporate with Quality and Food Safety teams to develop and improve related programs
  • Leads cross-functional efforts to determine root cause and corrective actions for quality or food safety related issues
  • Provides food safety system (ISO FSSC 22000) and enterprise Quality and Food Safety governance for region

What You Need?

  • Bachelor of Science degree plus 7 years of production, operations, engineering, sanitation or quality assurance experience in food and beverage manufacturing, reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 11 years of production, operations, engineering, sanitation or quality assurance experience in food and beverage manufacturing, reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to lift and move equipment or product that can weigh up to 50 pounds.

What Will Set You Apart?

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a Natural Science discipline plus 9 years of food/beverage sanitation experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience and direct knowledge of sanitation and GMP’s in a food and beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of food microbiology.
  • Knowledge of sanitary design principles.
  • Knowledge of quality and food safety systems including cGMP’s, HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001, and SPC.
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Experience understanding and applying relevant regulatory laws, standards and guidelines pertaining to food and beverage processing.
