Quality and Food Safety Manager- Valdosta, GA

This is a salary exempt level position

Job Summary:

The QS (Quality and Food Safety) Complex Manager has oversight of the overall Food Safety/Quality performance and compliance obligations of the Valdosta, GA Oilseeds Complex, including Refined Oils, Crush, and Cotton plants and provides support to Stratas.

The plant operates twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. The lab covers all shifts necessary to operate the facility.

This position reports to the Divisional Food Safety Manager.

Job Requirements:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides leadership, support, and guidance to ensure that Food Safety/Quality requirements are met. Ensures direct reports are establishing corporate and plant goals and setting metrics that support both.
  • Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the Food Safety/Quality divisional programs.
  • Implement Quality goals and KPIs, Food Safety/Quality, maintain Food Safety plan, and supports Operations for continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety/ Quality databases: APECS, Policy Tech, GEMINI, Maximo, etc.
  • Understands their role in food safety and quality systems and actively participates in food safety efforts to ensure all activities conform with good manufacturing practices.
  • Maintains and encourages a safe working environment and supports safety programs. Understands the Safety and Environmental programs at the facility and promotes a safe, environmentally compliant workplace.
  • Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the Food Safety/Quality programs in the complex. Supports plant training activities regarding Quality/Food Safety education
  • Complies and implements Divisional FS programs, plant programs, regulatory requirements, and requirements defined by SQF, GMP+, and ISO 9001 standards
  • Leads all aspects of compliance for GMP/ Sanitation and Pest Control programs at the complex; planning, development and implementation of Sanitation Standards and Goals
  • Provide support and mentorship for day to day decision making regarding quality/food safety impact on products
  • Interact with Corporate, Quality and Food/ Feed Safety groups and ensure stakeholders are provided necessary information i.e.: customer complaint investigation and response, supplier questionnaires, audits, quality investigations etc.
  • Provide guidance on AFE’s and Maximo requests that support Food Safety/ Quality initiatives
  • Establish expectations for asset preservation with regard to Food Safety and Quality items
  • Responsible for ensuring products meet defined requirements and insures proper disposition of non-conforming products
  • Responsible for the plant's Supplier Programs including approvals, complaints, rejections and feedback
  • Provides auditing support for supplier, ADM facilities and departments

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related science field or 3 years’ prior Quality Control / Assurance experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for interactions with all levels of the organization, including senior management, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Possess strong problem solving, communication, computer and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior laboratory experience / knowledge of laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining Quality requirements.
