TITLE
Manager, Quality Assurance
LOCATION
New Orleans, LA – Gentilly Plant
REPORTS TO
Plant Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with policies and
regulations of the FDA, local government and corporate quality standards
- Managerial responsibility for Quality
methodologies and ensuring Quality Assurance (QA) system health through
QA Key Elements and Statistical Process Control
- Lead development of the QA organization
for the New Orleans site and serve as integral part of the Plant
Leadership Team and the Category Quality Team
- Responsible for integration of Quality
systems with other high performance working
systems
- Supervise work and personnel in Plant
Quality Assurance laboratories to ensure testing and release of finished
products are conducted per quality standards
- Support incoming initiatives to guarantee
that quality requirements are covered in existing products or during the
start-up of new projects
- Provide technical support and guidance to
develop site validation protocols for ongoing and new operations
- Provide training on quality tools to the
organization
- Lead BRC compliance and recertification
- Site contact for regulatory (FDA, State)
and Kosher inspections
- Serve as Site PCQI to lead ongoing
compliance for FSMA, including responsibility for Food Safety Plan
- Assure compliance to all company quality
and food safety policies, and all Federal, State, and local regulatory
requirements
- Support Prodika,
to include specification approval, and Proficy
Quality Module
- Assure compliance to company quality
procedures, ingredient specifications, process control specifications
and finished product specifications
- Lead the Quality Pillar for the plant:
setting direction, building capability, maintaining 90-day plans
- Build skills and capabilities in Quality
Key Element Owners and Quality Functional Leaders. Ensure effectiveness
of site QA training program (new hire and ongoing QA training)
- Drive continual quality improvement as
measured by Quality key performance indicators including internal and
external audits, and company quality metrics
- Provide technical support to the
manufacturing facility in relation to quality and food safety
requirements
- Maintain JMS Qualified Auditor
certification
- Perform quality audits at supplier
facilities in the U.S., Canada and internationally, including working
with each facility to implement corrective actions
- Participate in JMS initiatives and
projects for supply chain changes and new product introductions
- Accountable for leading and maintaining
site Food Safety, Food Defense and Intentional Adulteration programs, to
include leading the NOLA campus Food Defense team
- Communicate JMS quality, food safety and
food defense guidelines and present training as applicable to all
employees
- Manage Quality Incidents for each
facility with the goal of investigating to root cause and implementing
corrective actions to prevent incident reoccurrence
- Coordinate holds, product disposition,
product withdrawals, trace exercises and recalls
- Monitor quality of manufactured products
using consumer complaint data, including complaint investigation, root
cause analysis, complaint response and corrective action
- Perform annual performance appraisals for
all direct reports and develop key personnel through coaching, training,
and organizational development
- Manage Quality Assurance budget
SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in Biology,
Engineering (Biochemical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial) or Food
Science is required
- At least 5 years of experience of quality
management experience in a manufacturing plant is required
- Knowledge of food industry Good
Manufacturing Practices, regulatory compliance and quality assurance
laboratory practices
Other
- A working knowledge of FDA regulations,
including cGMPs and FSMA
- Experience with BRC audits
- Ability to lead, coach, and develop
salaried and hourly personnel including performing bi-annual performance
appraisals for all direct reports and key personnel
- Ability to work collaboratively across
departmental boundaries
- Ability to understand complex process
operations as it relates to quality, food safety, and troubleshooting
- Excellent organizational skills,
attention to detail, and capacity to multitask efficiently
- Excellent communication skills (both oral
and written) and effective listening skills
- Represents JMS in a professional,
positive manner with our partners
- Must be willing to travel up to 15%
