Job Summary
This individual will be responsible for maintaining corporate food safety
programs for ADM. To this end, these programs include performing and
coordinating managing food safety plans, training programs, and validation of
food safety control parameters. The activities of this position support ADM’s
compliance with food and feed safety regulations and commitment to
manufacturing safe and suitable products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the development of Food Safety
learning plans and serves as the internal and external subject matter
expert in developing and maintaining Quality, Microbiological, and Food
Safety Programs
- Lead in partnership with other Quality
Managers the development and implementation of Food Safety Plans, HACCP,
pre-requisite programs, and all food safety related programs to meet
regulatory and/or customer requirements
- Perform food safety and quality
assessments for review of manufacturing standards, HACCP/FSMA Food
Safety Plans, Food Quality Plans, and sanitation programs
- Ensure full compliance with company
policies and procedures, customer requirements, HACCP, FSMA/Preventive
Controls, and GFSI standards
- Develop policies and monitor procedures
for validation of critical control points, preventive controls, and
other food safety controls
- Assess supplier locations and programs
from a food (human and animal) safety perspective
- Conduct food (human and animal) safety
audits of ADM suppliers either individually, as part of an ADM team or
through third-party auditors and ADM facilities
- Facilitates compliance with all food
safety programs for all ADM facilities to include but not limited to
HACCP, GMP's, Allergen control, lot traceability, and all applicable
associate food safety training.
- Conduct audits such as those related to
GMP/Food safety systems and/or GFSI benchmarked schemes like BRC, FSSC
22000 and SQF
- Interact with and provide support for ADM
Quality professionals within Commercial and Operational units including
Divisional Quality Assurance Managers
- This role helps to identify trends in
inadequate food safety compliance within the organization.
- Interact with and provide support for ADM
Procurement specialists
- Assist in the maintenance of Supplier
Risk Metric for ADM Integrated Risk Management activities and ADM
Approved Supplier database(s)
- Supports the Crisis Management Team for
Special Situations in partnership with other Quality and food safety
managers
- Facilitate the investigation and
resolution of escalated plant issues including quality holds, priority
consumer complaints, and FDA/USDA regulatory matters
Requirements
- Food (human or animal) safety auditing
experience in an industrial setting
- Bachelor’s degree preferred - preferably
in Biological Sciences, Food Science or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in managing food
safety in a food processing environment.
- Familiarity with HACCP/ HARPC and
product food safety control programs
- Experience in GFSI schemes, organic,
kosher, FSMA Food Safety Plan, and FSVP
- Experience/knowledge in Microbiology,
Food Safety troubleshooting and process improvement skills
- Proficient in computer skills and in
Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Good knowledge of statistics and
statistical process control (SPC)( Six Sigma
Green Belt experience preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication
skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Comfortable working in a distance team
environment.
- Effective communications skills with the
ability to deliver positive feedback as well as corrective strategies
in a proactive and respectful manner
- High ethical standards and ability to
travel independently
