THE OPPORTUNITY
The Restaurant Food Safety Manager will support our Operations
region (and Food Safety team) to ensure we deliver World Class Food Safety.
Specific areas of responsibility include: crisis management, third-party food
safety audits, health department relations, pest program management, and
handling escalated issues from the Restaurant Safety Phone Support Hotline
related to restaurant emergencies. Partners closely with cross-functional
teams to ensure compliance of food safety through collaboration with the restaurant
training team, enterprise compliance, and legal. The Regional Restaurant Food
Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring we are executing on our food
safety standards and protocols.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop relationships with health
departments in the region; keep current on changes in regulations and
standards and communicate those to restaurants, training as needed.
Follow up on issues identified in health inspections to ensure they are
remediated and test for recurrence.
- Contribute relevant communications
content including the weekly Field Leader communications, to promote and
ensure Food Safety compliance.
- Develop relationships with health
departments in the region; keep current on changes in regulations and
standards and communicate those to restaurants, training as needed.
Follow up on issues identified in health inspections to ensure they are
remediated and test for recurrence.
- Respond to quarterly inspection reports.
Monitor reports for high-risk findings and dispatch field support to
restaurants that need immediate support.
- Facilitates partnership of restaurant
support teams and operations to resolve pest infestations. Determines
when to close a restaurant due to the severity of activity through
analysis of monthly service reports for the restaurants in their region
and respond to findings with a recommended resolution.
- Contribute relevant communications
content including the weekly Field Leader communications, to promote and
ensure Food Safety compliance.
- Analyze food safety data and trends to
proactively improve food safety performance and procedures. Leverage our
risk-based food safety model to provide solutions and facilitate
restaurant improvement.
- Manage response to health department
closures, fines, and other penalties. Facilitate partnership of
restaurant support teams and operational leadership to resolve issues
identified by health departments.
- Serve as Food Safety subject matter
expert supporting ETD and FL teams across assigned regions providing
guidance and coaching on Food Safety programs and issues.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
- B.S. in General Science, Food Science and
Technology, Human Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or Business
Administration
- 5-8 years of experience in Food Safety,
Microbiology, Chemistry, Restaurant Operations and/or Pest Management
- CP-FS and REHS/RS Manger Level ServSafe Certification, HACCP Certification and
Allergen Certification
- Preferred Knowledge of food safety
regulations and the FDA Food Code, perhaps as a food safety auditor.
- Experience working with pest management
vendors and implementing systems for risk mitigation.
- Excellent phone etiquette.
- Excellent written and verbal
communication skills.
- Ability to travel (up to 60%) and be on
call after business hours.
- Ability to plan travel, manage workload,
and prioritize tasks while working remotely with cross-functional
leaders.
- Ability to train and provide corrective
actions with cross functional partners.
- Ability to approach and solve problems in
a logical and organized manner.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to lead and teach a group about
food safety.
- This is a remote position and can be
based anywhere within the region near a major airport.
