Job Description

As the Sanitation Supply Chain Leader, this person is responsible for managing the Sanitation Department and the salaried and hourly sanitation team. They will provide leadership and technical support in the area of Food Safety and Sanitation with an emphasis on product safety and regulatory (FSMA) compliance. Responsible for the development, implementation and sustainable performance of the Sanitation Program and is a cross functional partner to the plant operations teams. Individual must possess strong leadership and people skills along with team building capabilities.

  • Driver of Global Food Safety and Sanitation programs, including but not limited to: FSMA compliance (including preventive control documentation), IPM (Integrated Pest Management), Cleaning & Verification, Self- Inspections, Corrective Actions, Maintenance, GMP’s, Hygienic Zoning
  • Deliver effective change leadership while driving business changes and minimizing people impact
  • Ensure compliance to Global Pathogen Monitoring program, and responsible for execution of the program and development of corrective actions
  • Coordinate and execute sustainability efforts including recycle water for potato chip processing lines (where applicable) and sanitation best practices
  • Develop, implement, and sustain effective Master Sanitation/ Master Cleaning Schedules within a Business Unit/ Department such as daily housekeeping, routine sanitation, SSOPs. This will include tracking of completion, execution of corrective actions and proper documentation and record keeping in compliance with global standards.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain Sanitation Preventive Control including verification activities including ATP verification, microbial and allergen validations and supporting changeover records and corrective action documentation.
  • Partner with HQ Sanitation SMEs on hygienic design implementation and development of site-specific details for Proceedix platform
  • Oversee, coach and manage hourly employees in cleaning activities, ensuring correct methods, frequencies, precautions are taken in completing routine sanitation activities. Provide daily feedback to plant management as well as team members.
  • Serve as a mentor/ resource to other members of management as well as the operators within the department, setting expectations and delivering feedback
  • Provide sanitation training, to encompass impact to food safety, allergens, FSMA compliance and GMPs. Be capable of delivering training in the area of continuous improvement processes. Deliver training at both the hourly and salaried levels.
  • Manage aspects of sanitation safety at the floor level. Manage overall PepsiCo internal program and sanitation team’s execution to comply with global standards, such as QAS.
  • Lead the regular internal self-inspection audits to ensure compliance to GMPs, AIB and GFSI compliance and implement corrective actions to drive sustainable performance.
  • Support overall site audits ensuring FDA (FSMA), AIB and FSSC 22000 Standards requirements are met. Drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Must demonstrate ability to facilitate project work with minimal coaching. This will assure successful project implementation and completions within the parameters set forth.
  • Identify and lead efforts of best practices and cost management opportunities to achieve productivity gains. Manage site food safety and sanitation facility infrastructure expense and capital plans with site maintenance and headquarters engineering teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree: Preferably in food science, engineering, operations management, or similar field
  • Two to three years of experience in the Food/Beverage Industry preferred
  • PCQI Certification preferred
  • Incremental Certifications or advanced training preferred, such as ASQ (including Quality Manager or Quality Auditor), ANSI, CFS or 3-A preferred
  • Strong foundation in interpersonal communication concepts, specifically, written, oral, presentation, listening, and facilitation skills
  • Ability to lead team members, facilitate change, foster innovation, results, and manage
  • Ability to effectively challenge status quo and provide open and constructive feedback to all levels of the organization - Ability to handle the “tough” conversations.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and plant personnel
