This position is responsible the direction of all QA and QC operations across our Regional manufacturing operations and US corporate functions. The Vice President will provide leadership and guidance to the quality management team within the strategic framework of a best in class quality organization. The position will have several direct reports across all major regions.
The successful candidate will be an experienced quality executive with both Quality Assurance and Quality Controls background. He/she must bring a track record of ensuring quality and regulatory compliance in the nutraceutical field or in a closely related industry (food, pharma). The ideal candidate possesses strong technical, leadership and organization skills, including the ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of supply chain peers. He/she must bring a high level of enthusiasm, creativity, and passion to Nestle Health Science. The keys to success in this role include leading the execution at the various regional levels of improved quality systems and strategies, and the demonstrated ability to lead the people and processes required to sustain this best in class organization. Quality is a linchpin of Nestle Health Science’s current and future success.

 

The successful candidate will have been part of a build out of new quality systems within a high-paced and fast moving manufacturing organization. Collaboration is key. This role reports into the Chief Supply Chain Officer and is a key member of our extended supply chain leadership group.

Responsibilities:

  • Has ownership of and develops the quality management systems and plans of Nestle Health Science in close collaboration with the Chief Supply Chain Officer and peer supply chain leadership.
  • Drives and ensures implementation of factory food safety and quality plans. Provides guidance and coaching to the factory team in the areas of Quality and Food Safety.
  • Provides frontline leadership to Quality Assurance department directors and their teams.
  • Responsible for the management and oversight of contracted facility food safety prerequisites
  • Provides guidance and analysis to supply chain leadership on quality system success and changes needed
  • Understands equipment, commissioning procedures, pre-operational preparation requirements, process controls and sanitation requirements and can compel this understanding via the regional quality leadership and manufacturing teams
  • Strategically assesses quality issues within the broad manufacturing portfolio and provides decisive feedback on improving the performance of the quality management system.
  • Work across raw material/component suppliers and Procurement management to effectively communicate quality requirements and achieve resolution.
  • Act as primary liaison to corporate Quality Assurance and outside Regulatory agencies, via regional management and/or as direct representative of The Nature’s Bounty Co.
  • Drive a performance management culture within the Quality leadership team and provide development support as needed.
  • Understand and drive the design and deployments of KPIs as needed to improve factory performance across all products.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or Science related field required, Masters preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years in the food, dietary supplement or nutraceutical business would be preferred

 

Other Skills Training and Knowledge:

  • Certification in HACCP principles; Experience on a HACCP leadership team implementing a Food Safety Plan.
  • Experience preparing and approving SOPs to support the Quality Management systems as defined by International standards, e.g. ISO 22000, ISO 17025, etc.
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR part 110, 21 CFR part 111 and other regulatory standards governing the sanitation and hygiene of food manufacturing.
  • Experience in quality audit program management and audit skills training, ASQ –CQA (certified quality auditor) or other.
