Job Description:

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

 

This high visibility position is responsible for managing and coordinating the regulatory and quality compliance activities at a manufacturing facility.  This includes the activities associated with SQF, the Food Safety Modernization Act, QMS, Non-GMO, Organic and Kosher programs at the facility.  This position will assist the QA Manager with all compliance related activities at the facility and function to facilitate all compliance related activities.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Coordinate all systems, related to the Safe Quality Food Level 2 and 3 certification
  • Maintain facility good standing
  • Manage training program and ensure required training is completed by Managers and Supervisors
  • Lead the audit for the standard
  • Provide backup to the QA Manager as an SQF practitioner at level 2 and level 3 activity
  • Lead the annual Management Review of the system at the facility
  • Coordinate corrective action program for audits at the facility
  • Completion of Food Safety Preventive Controls (FSPCA) Training
  • Non-GMO program
  • Organic Compliance
  • Kosher Compliance
  • QMS SME and ensure Compliance
  • Maintain and review all food safety related recording forms
  • Audit the system for compliance and manager audit corrective actions
  • Manage the training program for the standards
  • Follow up on activities and closure of corrective action programs
  • Assist the QA Manager for the facility audits and inspections
  • Provide support to QA department for special projects
  • Stay current with key regulatory and certifying agency guidelines and regulations
  • Active team member of the Food Safety Team
  • Manage Vendor Corrective Action
  • Manage plant product specifications
  • Manage plant calibration program
  • QMS Standard owner of OS2.23 Identification and Traceability
  • QMS Standard owner of CS1.07 Document and Records Management
  • QMS standards owner of OS2.17 Environmental Monitoring: EMP of FCS, zone 2 and zone 3.
  • Complete vectoring of EMP remediation, participate in root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Manage sample 6 EMP and scheduling
  • Calibration Program
  • ETQ Super User

Job Requirements:

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Degree: BS/BA Food Science or related field
  • 3-5 years combined experience with food or ingredients and manufacturing experience
  • SQF Practitioner Certification
  • HACCP Certification
  • HACCP Food Safety and Quality Management

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Must be computer literate in the basics of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel; and SAP.
  • State and Federal Regulatory
  • SQF Practitioner Certification
  • HACCP Certification
  • Knowledge of kosher and organic processes and regulations for food manufacturing
  • Understanding of SQF standards
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask effectively
  • Self-driven, results oriented, effectively works independently
  • Works effectively with confidential knowledge and materials
  • Excellent communication / presentation skills
  • Excellent record keeping / documentation skills

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Working Environment: This is primarily a sedentary office classification. Employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.

 

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
