This QA Operations Manager will report to the Hunt Valley Plantís Quality Assurance (QA) Manager.

Under the direction of the Plant QA Manager, the QA Operations Manager will focus on improving operational quality programs and developing the workforce. The QA Operations Manager will have at least three direct reports to include a Quality Assurance Team Manager, a Quality Systems Manager, and a Quality Notifications Coordinator.
The QA Operations Manager will be part of a self-directed team that largely manages its own work. The team is responsible for keeping production flowing, meeting performance goals, maintaining a clean/safe work environment, and maintaining a high level of quality and service to their customers. This new hire will utilize the High Performance Organizational Cultural Framework to empower and develop others.
∑ Meet the needs of the customer 100% of the time while achieving key indicator results that support strategic objectives, goals, strategies and measures (OGSMs) for multi shift operations
∑ Develop the Quality Technicians and direct reports to their fullest potential
∑ Ensure a working environment of mutual trust and respect
∑ Maintain and implement the Plant's Quality System policies and procedures
∑ Ensure that each focus area has appropriate systems in place to assure compliance with all expectations and provide assistance when necessary to develop and implement such programs
∑ Lead and coordinate internal and external resources such as Process Development, Packaging Development, Corporate and Division QA, audits, etc., as necessary, to identify and implement improvement(s), track and monitor project progress, and report to site management, Steering committee, and team on progress toward project goals
∑ Serve as Plant HACCP Team Leader and ensure HACCP Programs meet corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements
∑ Ensure food safety by conducting/supervising internal audits, identifying root causes, recommending corrective actions, and working with Production and Engineering to verify line changes
∑ Facilitate third party, customer, and regulatory audits for the plant
∑ Manage projects related to quality strategic purchases and implementation of equipment
∑ Manage Quality System programs, pest control, CGMP, Recall, Food Allergen, Sanitation, and Complaint process for the McCormick Distribution Center (MDC) in Belcamp, MD
∑ Manage the Quality System programs for the Warehouse Department
∑ Coordinate department activities and training as they relate to Divisional and Corporate Quality System Programs
∑ Manage Quality Notification Process including disposition, root cause / correction action, reworking material, etc. Control stock of Quality Notification materials with food safety concerns
∑ Act as back-up Plant QA Manager as needed
∑ Bachelorís degree in Chemistry, Food Science or a related technical field
∑ Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance experience in a food, beverage, ingredients, flavor or pharmaceutical manufacturing plant
∑ Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
∑ Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels, promoting a high performance organization
∑ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to resolve issues with strong influencing, diplomacy, and partnering skills in order to grow relationships and guide business partners to the best solutions
∑ Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action execution
∑ Demonstrated leadership, planning, and organization skills
∑ Experience performing product traces from receipt to shipment
∑ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
∑ Experience with PC software
∑ Experience implementing HACCP programs and related documentation
∑ Experience preparing for and facilitating audits such as SQF, AIB, FDA, etc.
∑ Experience with sanitary design concept, food allergen, food defense/security and recall
∑ Experience supervising salaried (exempt) employees
∑ HACCP Manager Certification
∑ Experience implementing and maintaining SQF systems
∑ SAP experience
