Position Description

The Vp of Quality would be a support at each of our plants. The Vice President would establish and help implement corporate policies and programs across all Company facilities and to ensure that operations are in compliance with best practices and applicable laws and regulations.  The Vice President would partner closely with plant leadership and Quality personnel across all facilities as well as personnel from operations, sourcing, research and development, and regulatory to develop and implement appropriate strategies and objectives that drive continuous improvement in food safety and regulatory compliance company wide.  This would include providing mentoring and training, as needed.  The Vice President would also act as a liaison and subject matter expert with the government affairs team to assist with the application of, or commenting on, existing and new regulations, including under FSMA.

Essential Responsibilities

             Responsible for all Quality and Food Safety activities across all Company facilities and for developing strategic plans for advancing and improving FS&Q systems based on changing needs of the business and the regulatory environment

             Serve as primary resource for all Company facilities, including providing mentoring and training to personnel to assure proper understanding of the food safety procedures, policies and standards

             Serve as a technical subject-matter expert on food safety-related issues and incidents with potential brand implications and assist with food safety communications with internal and external stakeholders

             Work with plant leadership to establish, develop and draft corporate polices around key food safety areas, such as GMPs, HACCP plans, food safety plans, microbiological testing, supply chain control and sanitation plans, etc.  Ensure that policies are implemented and consistent across the Company facilities (recognizing that details of SOPs may vary at plant level due to difference in products).

             Implement and manage internal quality and food safety systems and infrastructure to support company growth and provide excellent quality results, as measured by QA metrics (e.g., customer complaint frequency, product evaluation scores and audit scores) and other formal and informal feedback

             Work with plant leadership to implement enterprise-wide quality control programs, such as supplier approval, internal audit and recall and traceability, to reduce risk across the Paramount/Roll organization

             Responsible for assuring Quality and Food safety personnel effectively investigate customer/consumer complaints, finished product results, ingredient issues and product and processing specifications while developing corrective actions and preventive measures

             Responsible for ensuring the Company facilities maintain the adequacy and accuracy of technical data, including specifications for product and process parameters and procedures, labeling details, formulations and batch sheets

             Ensure all Company facilities maintain required records and documents, such as formal test results, inspections, file samples, SOPs, sanitation records, product complaints and product disposition

             Assist with the selection, motivation and development of Quality and Food safety personnel at each Company facility to ensure all positions are effectively staffed and future management is developed

             Keep current on new regulatory requirements and food safety standards that affect plant facilities,

             Responsible for FSMA compliance, including identifying and facilitating appropriate training for Qualified Individuals at the plant level to oversee FSMA implementation

             Play a key role in any recall situations and possibly oversee recalls from a corporate level

             Act as an interface between plant level FS&Q personnel and Senior Management with regard to food safety issues

Expected Qualifications

             Network of connections to major food and agricultural companies

             At least 15+ years of experience in the area of Quality and Food Safety at a food and beverage facility

             B.A. or B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology or related field is preferred

             Previous experience in oversight of Quality and Food safety  in multiple locations strongly desired

             Auditing experience preferred

             Product recall experience

             Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

             Strong analytical and problem solving skills

             Ability to effectively present information to Senior Management

            Strong leadership skills

             Experience dealing with USDA and other state/federal regulatory agencies
