Process Development Specialist
Taylor Farms Pacific, Inc. - Tracy, CA



Summary of Responsibilities:

Process Development Specialist designs, conducts testing and executes commercialization process of new products and/or implements new process for existing products. Successful candidate must be able to work effectively as a team player, possess strong communication skills, and interact across departmental boundaries, minimizing conflict, and maximizing interdepartmental good will.

Essential Functions:

  • Efficiently plan and coordinate product/process trials using scientific experimental design, and work with food technologists within the group
  • Document and evaluate trial data and make appropriate recommendations to the group through written and/or oral reports
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance in sourcing appropriate equipment or tools for specific application as needed for the projects.
  • Manage projects independently and report progress to the PD team in a bi-weekly basis
  • Perform strong technical problem solving skills related to the development, manufacturing, and/or modification of food products and processes.
  • Create and manage process development documents, which includes but not limited to training materials for QA or production personnel, new SOP’s, job aids, batch sheets, allergen list, etc.
  • Assist in training on new procedures or processes for new product launches


  • Excellent communication skills-written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutritional Sciences or other Biological Sciences
  • 2 years of experience in Food Product and Process Development preferred. Manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Excellent documentation and record keeping
  • Must have a “can-do” attitude to work in a hectic environment that is evolving and growing
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; able to learn new programs
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and Food Labeling (FDA and USDA).
  • Experience in Packaging, Fresh-Cut, Deli products and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
  • Stand and walk for long period of time
  • Work in a refrigerated environment
  • Must be able to safely lift 25 pounds
