The R&D Technologist-Meat Emphasis will provide solutions by developing product & process specifications for fresh, RTE, and value added pork products. This position will also evaluate current product, process, & packaging to drive quality, performance, & yield.

As the R&D Technologists-Meat Emphasis you will be responsible for the following:
• Lead development of new value added retail and food service pork items (emphasis on RTE items such as Bacon, Ham, Sausage and Fresh Marinated Items)
• Develop raw material/ingredient –in process & finished product specifications
• Recommend formulations, ingredients, processes, and equipment to bring assigned projects to successful completion
• Champion relevant technologies, new ingredient and packaging opportunities. Leverages meat science based solutions.
• Develop a strategy & pipeline for cost optimization.
• Identifies area of improvement with a cross functional team to improve quality, performance, and yield of raw/fully cooked products and process systems.
• Provide support to Regulatory Manager for label, nutritional, and compliance requirements.
• Perform sensory & analytical testing on in process & finished products for benchmarking


• BS or higher degree in Meat Science, Food Science, or related field with 4 or more years of relevant work experience.
• The candidate must demonstrate aptitude & success in leading complex R&D Meat projects in a fast paced, multifaceted meat processing environment
• Possess technical knowledge of meat formulation & processing. 
• Ability to use scientific methodology & data in practical applications in a production environment; technical problem solving skills are imperative
• Lead through example. Leadership skills essential.
